— DECEMBER FOURTEENTH
9:53 A.M.

Jasiah drove to the courthouse in his 2025 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class—which he had gotten early access to months ago, before its official release to the public—the car's sleek tires driving effortlessly over pavement, making the car feel weightless as he drove it.

Today was the day that could either make or break everything for Rated X. The second to last court hearing, & the first real opportunity he had to speak on behalf of both himself & the club to save it from being permanently shut down.

What had started out as a cover up for his cartel—a way to mask his tracks of a million dollar operation— had transformed into something he didn't see with his initial plan. X was supposed to be a front, a convenient distraction to keep a flame from under his ass.

Then it evolved into something that wasn't just for him anymore. Despite being a strip club—a place people often judged, seeing it only for its surface allure—it became a refuge. It wasn't only about the explicit nature or the bodies on stage anymore, it was a haven for his patrons, & it provided plenty financial freedoms for his employees.

Each year, X grew bigger & better, surpassing the success of the year before. The performances, the experience, the theatrics—everything Jasiah introduced expanded, doubled, until the club became the largest & most iconic venue on the West Coast. It had evolved into a powerhouse, drawing attention from all corners. So now, Jasiah & his own people weren't the only ones invested in its success. Everyone was on the edges of their seats at what could happen to it when this case was over.

Iris & Spoon came with him for today's hearing, offering their support. Iris sat quietly beside him, her presence grounding him in a way that made all this tolerable. Spoon sat behind him, his arms crossed, his eyes scanning their surroundings with the alertness of someone who never fully let his guard down.

He wanted Honesty to be present too though. She used to be the person who kept him centered & kept his mind clear but after everything that went down two days ago, their first real altercation that escalated more than both of them wanted it to, he figured she wouldn't come, but this wasn't life threatening so he wasn't tripping. He couldn't focus on what could've been either, he could only put his focus on what was.

"I found out Honesty been on synthetic pills & molly," Jasiah said over the sound of music playing throughout the car. He dropped the news so casually, but it hit Spoon & Iris like bricks. They both froze, clearly caught off guard. Honesty & drugs didn't make sense at all.

"Nigga, what?" Spoon's voice rose in disbelief. He leaned forward from the back seat, his head popping between Jasiah & Iris's seat. Iris, staring at Jasiah, watched his side profile. He looked unfazed, but she knew better. The blank expression on his face was hiding something much deeper. "I thought she was just smoking a little weed."
