"I can't keep doing this. I need to get out of here," James hissed under his breath as he packed his bags.
"Where are you going to go? Mom's dead, Dad walked out on us years ago, and I'm the only one you got besides Deanna," David leaned on the door frame, arms crossed, trying to keep his tone steady despite the worry in his eyes.
"Anywhere but here," James turned to him, jaw clenched.
"Alright, whatever. You're almost eighteen; I can't stop you," David
shrugged and sighed." Okay then".
So with that James grabbed his bags and rushed down the stairs before running to his truck and then driving to the Twilight Zone, where he drove passed an old checkpoint to a cabin that seemed like it hadn't been touched since World War II.
" Home sweet home I guess" James uttered to himself.
With that, James got out of his truck and went inside the two-bedroom cabin where he sported the next nine months James made it more habitable and used his skills that were taught and passed down by generations of hunters, which are slightly bigger and stronger than your average human.

As the sun began to set in the Twilight Zone James began to pepper his rifle for his nightly hunt for dinner. What is it? The best idea for a seventeen-year-old to be out by himself in a section of the California forest that is known for paranormal and supernatural activity? No, no, it wasn't but James didn't care. He was just trying to survive.
But as he was walking James saw an eight-point whitetail buck grazing on the grass in front of it, so with that James loaded his rifle and aimed at the deer as he pulled the trigger, he heard a low growl and saw amber eyes glowing in his direction.
" Holy shit no fucking way. Is that a wolf?" James uttered to himself before the creature charged and revealed itself to be a wolf.
James's heart raced as the massive wolf surged toward him, its muscles rippling beneath its thick fur. For a moment, he was paralyzed by fear, caught between instinct and curiosity. He had read about wolves and even hunted some in the past, but nothing prepared him for the primal intensity radiating from this creature.
The wolf stopped a mere few feet away, its amber eyes locked onto his. It growled low in its throat, a sound that vibrated through the stillness of the forest. James tightened his grip on his rifle, mind racing with the instinct to flee. But something held him in place—a strange pull that made his blood hum with excitement and fear.
"Easy, boy," he whispered, hoping to calm the beast.
The wolf's growl deepened, and without warning, it lunged forward. James barely had time to react before it knocked him off his feet, sending him sprawling onto the cold ground. His rifle slipped from his grasp, clattering out of reach.
"Get off me!" he shouted, scrambling to push the creature away. But the wolf was strong, overpowering him with a weight that felt unnatural.
In a flash, the wolf's fangs flashed as it clamped down on his forearm. Pain shot through him like a lightning bolt, sharper than any wound he had ever experienced. He gasped, feeling the warm blood seep from the puncture wounds.
"Fuck! No!" Panic flooded his veins as he struggled against the creature.
But then, something shifted. The pain morphed into an overwhelming heat that coursed through his body. He could feel his heart pounding in his chest, not just from fear but from a strange, intoxicating energy that began to spread from the bite. The wolf's amber eyes bore into his, and for a moment, he felt an eerie sense of connection—a pulse that synchronized with his heartbeat.
