( chapter fourteen, no, please don't kill me mr. ghostface, I wanna be in the sequel! )
❝ and another one gone, another one bites the dust, yeah, hey, I'm gonna get you too, another one bites the dust ❞october 11th, 1996
KATHRYN STEPPED INTO the large family home, greeted by a swarm of kids packed into every corner. She chuckled to herself. Of course, Stu hadn't been honest when he said it would just be a "small gathering."
She didn't even recognize half the people here.
A familiar voice broke through the noise. "Look at you, babes! You look bangin' - but that jacket though..." Tatum grimaced, giving Kathryn a once-over.
Sidney stood beside her, smiling. "I think it's cute."
Kathryn shot Sidney a grateful smile while Tatum rolled her eyes. "Oh, I'm sure you do, Sid," she teased.
The three girls weaved their way through the crowd toward the kitchen, where Stu and a group of guys were gathered around the sink, beer funneling.
Kathryn smirked, shaking her head. "Real mature."
Stu looked up, grinning wide when he saw her. "Hey! Where've you been, princess? We had to start without you."
"Sorry I'm late," Kathryn replied as they did their signature handshake, followed by a quick hug. "Nice robe. You get that from your mommy?"
Stu laughed, slinging an arm around her shoulders. "For your information, this cost nearly two grand - and it's mine! So show some respect."
Kathryn chuckled, feeling the effects of what Nathan gave her start to kick in, her body relaxing. "Well, excuse me if I offended you, Your Highness."
Before Stu could respond, Tatum reappeared, grabbing Kathryn's arm. "Kat, come with me," she barely acknowledged her boyfriend as she pulled Kathryn away.
"Thanks, Tate!" Stu called after them, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Love you too."
They entered the living room just as Randy walked in, arms loaded with VHS tapes. "Thought we'd make it a Blockbuster night," he announced, dropping the tapes onto the coffee table.
Kathryn and Tatum collapsed onto the couch, joining a group of other teenagers, including Sidney.
"I thought everything was checked out?" Kathryn asked, watching as Tatum shifted through the tapes.
Randy grinned, settling down next to Kathryn. "I had 'em hidden in the foreign section. No one ever goes back there."
Sidney picked up one of the tapes, squinting at the title. "The Fog, Terror Train, Prom Night - why is Jamie Lee Curtis in all of these?"
"She's the Scream Queen," Kathryn said without looking up, only turning when she noticed Randy staring at her in awe. "What? Just because I don't like horror doesn't mean I don't know the basics."
Suddenly, Stu popped up over the back of the couch, leaning in between Kathryn and Tatum. "With that set of lungs, she should be."
"Tits," Tatum corrected with an eye roll, referring to Sidney's question. "See?"
Kathryn chuckled and turned to Randy, who was still sorting through tapes. "Can we do Texas Chainsaw Massacre? It's at least based on a true story, and coming from a Texan, I'd appreciate it."
Randy rolled his eyes but couldn't help grinning. "Alright, let's vote, shall we?"
Kathryn watched as Randy stood to gather the room's attention. The crowd grew, and Kathryn frowned when she spotted Nathan chatting with a cute brunette in the corner. Doesn't he have a girlfriend?
