Frostbite, a frozen horror (no, not the movie Frozen)

Remember Your Coat

"I'm gonna go outside!" Alexis shouted to her mother as she ran down the stairs, nearly tripping over her own feet.
"Just remember your coat." her mother responded while she was chopping away at the carrots for their dinner later that evening. Alexis reluctantly grabbed her scarlet hoodie and put it on as she was leaving the house.
"Remember your coat." Alexis said in a mocking tone once she was walking through the late November snow that laid 3 inches thick on the front yard of the Geler family. The snow stuck to her red converse as Alexis trotted to the forest. "I don't even need a coat, I don't get cold! I've never even gotten a cold." Alexis said to herself as she walked into the forest. A new layer of snow began falling from the sky, sticking to Alexis' ashy blonde hair and long, thick, black eyelashes that perfectly framed her olive-hazel eyes. As Alexis approached her most favorite tree to climb, she took off her scarlet hoodie and tossed it onto the thick, crunchy, white powder that covered the forest floor.
Alexis then began climbing, she knew how to climb this tree by heart. She knew every foothold and branch to hold onto in order to get to the crook in the tree that held her small frame perfectly. The snow made it slightly more difficult to climb, but it hardly made a difference to Alexis. As she scaled to the crook in the tree, more snow began to fall, but Alexis still didn't feel cold at all. Once Alexis reached to crook in the tree, she settled in and admired the scenery. The brisk winter wind blowing gently through her long ashy blonde hair. Alexis enjoyed it very much out in the forest, much more than her home or her school or any place inside. She loved looking at every detail in the nature that surrounded her. The peacefulness of the scenery around Alexis caused her to drift into sleep. So Alexis slept, while the temperature around her kept dropping, she stayed, perfectly warm and at peace.
