My life has always been peaceful, nothing bad was happening, I had an amazing Husband, a loving family who supported my sexuality, and many loyal friends.
I was living a happy life, nothing was wrong, everything was perfect, but of course, all happiness must come to an end.
I started to realize I was losing memories of things, it was hard to remember simple dates, My Husband, Max, was starting to get worried but I kept brushing it off.
Soon, without realizing it, I had forgotten who some of my friends were, that's when Max decided to take me to the ER.
"You have a disease that makes you slowly lose your memories, its not yet fully researched on since this is very rare, but you will slowly forget everyone in your life."
Those were the words my doctor told me. Max was devastated, he didn't like the sound of me losing my memories of everyone I've ever known, or everything I've learnt.
It was hard for us, my family didn't take it well and left me, they didn't want someone who would betray and lose memory them, they also told me that they never support me nor my husband, they told me that they never supported our same sex relationship, they said it was a sin, illegal of some sort.
I was heart broken, my family left me. My friends were on the same page, they didn't want to be friends with someone who won't remember them.
None of them stayed, they all left, they blocked me, cut ties with me, the only person who stayed by my side is Max.
He's the only person who wants to stay, to take care of me, to help me remember those I can't. He would always comfort me, tell me that it's okay to forget.
"Hey, hey, its okay, shh, shh, calm down okay? In and out, you can do it."
He comforted me one night, I was having a panic attack, a package came in the mail today, it was from one of my ex-friends.
They sent a prank mail, there were bugs everywhere. I had a fear of creepy crawlies. I have no idea how they sent it, but there were bugs and I can still feel them on my skin.
"No! No! Get it off! Get it off!"
I screamed and shout trying to scratch my skin to remove the bugs, but Max held my arms tightly to prevent me from hurting myself.
"Shh, shh.. deep breaths okay? In.. and out.."
He softly comforted me making sure I was comfortable.
"You're okay, you're safe.. shh..."
I was sobbing in his arms, clutching on his shirt tightly.
"I can still feel them.. Max.. Get it off.. please.."
He gently pet my head
"Let's give you a bath okay? Then we can cuddle and watch a movie. How's that sound?"
I nodded and wrapped my arms around his neck. I'm very grateful to Max, no matter what happens, he always makes sure I was okay, I was happy and safe.
I love the man so much, I don't want to lose him. After that night, I never opened another package again, Max handled all our mail and gave me the ones that was meant for me.
I always felt guilty about it but he just said that it was okay and he was happy doing this for me.
After a few months, I forgot about the incident, I was slowly losing my memories with my family, my so called 'loyal' friends had already been lost.
I was scared, What if I forgot about the one person who has been supporting me throughout my journey? I didn't want to lose my memories with this one special person.
