Thunder was booming in the dark, Inazuman sky, lighting up the surroundings in a flash of violet light. Drenched in sweat, blood and rainwater, Kazuha could feel his legs aching from over exertion, begging for a moment of rest.
"Tomo, what the hell were you thinking?!"
His mind raced with confusion and fear as he ran and ran, his legs carrying him towards Inazuma city almost on instinct, as if he had done this many times before. After hearing the knowledge that Tomo – his best friend, had challenged the Raiden Shogun to a duel before the throne, a direct challenge to the archon themselves. he immediately began sprinting towards Tenshukaku, worried for the safety of his friend. As he knew that if Tomo lost, he would certainly be killed.
Soon enough, the rough, dirt path turned to refined stone as Kazuha arrived in the city. A few patrolling shogunate, having immediately recognized him, began approaching. A stark reminder of Kazuha's status as a wanted man. But, he wouldn't let them stop him, as he used his Anemo vision to leap over the guards. Normally, he wouldn't hesitate to fight, but his desire to reach Tenshukaku and ensure Tomo's safety didn't allow for any setbacks.
Kazuha practically leaped up the steps leading to Tenshukaku, becoming aware of the sound of clashing metal coming from up ahead. He could only pray that Tomo wasn't badly injured.
But as he took the last few steps and looked up, he froze in place.
A wave of horror washed over Kazuha as he watched the figure of his friend stumble and fall to the ground. Blood poured out from a deep wound in his chest like a flowing river. He felt a stab of guilt in his chest, almost as if he'd been the one wounded instead.
"Tomo!"
He stood there, unable to move. His vision tunnelling on the cold, bloodied corpse of his friend as he felt an all-too familiar wet sensation running down his cheeks.
Kazuha's mind ran, thoughts constantly overlapping each other as a wave of nausea washed over him.
...
I was too late.
I should have done something.
