So there I was back in the little plant store that I was in the day before. But this time when I walk in the smell of vanilla and the sickly sweet yet enticing cologne caught my attention. The smell made me want to know who it belonged to no matter how weird that sounded. As I walked through the store looking around Florence and the machines blasted through the store. I hummed along walking to a table that had cages with adorable little plants in them.

As I kept looking I could feel a pair of eyes on me as I looked up I could see the check out counter and a boy with thick hair beautiful blue eyes and a sexy lip piercing stared back at me. When he realized I was looking at him he turned away and grabbed his phone typing away. Probably dumb fuckboy shit I thought.

Now I could concentrate without creeping eyes I looked down at the little box before me trying to open it up to see how exactly you took care of the plant. As I kept tugging and pulling weird levers and shaking it the strange boy that I found staring me down walked over and said "uh would you like some help with that?" I looked at him then at his name tag "Cody" it read, I like that name I think it feels vaguely familiar. "Well Cody," I say looking at his badge making sure I didn't make a fool of myself "I think I don't need help I'm going to figure this out eventually if I buy it so I might as well learn myself." I say as I grab and pick at the box some more.

I hear him grunt not pleased I didn't obey to his question, he swats my hand away and pulls a little gold latch placed at the top of the little glass box and the four sides all fold down allowing you access to the plant. "Thanks" I say flatly trying to put it back together. Your welcome...he pauses. "Bec " I say, "Well your welcome Bec." Then I pick it up I take it to the counter. Setting it down with a clink. "Is this all ma'am" he ask "yes it its" I say handing him my card.

While he rings up my card he makes small talk. "Are you new to this area I haven't seen you before?" He says "well not really, I'm home schooled if that means anything I'm not out much." I reply quietly. "I feel like I have seen you before do you know anyone by the name of Luke?" He asks. "Uh yeah he's my bestfriend well my only friend actually." I say scratching my neck embarrassed

"Yeah he always talks about you at lunch, I thought I have seen you hanging with him at party's and stuff." "I always thought you were a thing just hooking up and shit." Cody says. "Well we are most definitely not "hooking up and shit" if that's what you are asking. " "we are just friends, we have been since grade school when we met." "Well if you went to grade school why are you not in high school?" He ask "well actually it's sorta personal and I don't feel comfortable sharing that."

"Well here is your change 5, 6 and 7 makes 20." "Thank you and come agin" he says handing me my bag. I walk out and across the street to the diner that me and Luke always go to. I haven't talked to him in a while. I think back to when Cody asked if we were basically having sex and all I could think of was I wish. But Luke was way out of my league he was basically the shit and well I was shit.

I exhale deeply into thoughts as I sit down in the booth the host assigned to me. As I sit down I make sure to sit with my back to the back of the store so I can people watch. People watching has got me through some boring times I can honestly say it's a sport for me. When Luke is here we always talk about people like the regulars. Like the vegan lady who always comes in for coffee and sit at the round table scoping the hotties, last week some guy actually talked to her a first. Or this old waiter who had the mole under his left eye finally removed and bought him self this powder that supposed to make him look like he has more hair but in reality he just sheds this stuff that looks like grape Kool-Aid

After watching and ordering a regular doughnut and coffee I decide to text Luke

Me: Hey babe what's up in your busy life

A few doughnut bites later he replies

Luke: hey Bec just finishing up a band rehearsal what you up to???xxo

Me: just sitting at the cafe scoping out the territory😂😂

Luke: well I hope I'm invited be there in 5

I sit waiting for my only friend to show up.

When Luke gets there we sit and talk. We haven't seen each other for a week because Luke is on summer brake now and he's always busy. I haven't even told him I'm going to be starting high school maybe since I am a senior it might be worth it. As we talk I decide to bring it up. "Luke?", "yeah" he says drinking his Coke. "Well I have something to tell you and I don't know how u will take it." "Wait Bec are you ok please tell me you didn't do anything stupid." He says concerned. I laugh. "No I just well I think I might be going to high school for senior year," "I haven't really decided because I wanted your opinion first and I'm really nervous." When I looked at him Luke looked the happiest he has ever been. "Are you serious Bec If you don't go I will be mad cause you got my hopes up" he says semi yelling and hugging me really tight.

"So that's a yes I'm taking it." I laugh. "Of course it is." We talk some more then I decide it's time to bring up Cody. When I bring it up Luke looks nonchalant about it he just shrugs and says "yeah we're friends met in Pre Chem a few years back." When I tell him that he works in the plant shop across the street he snorts and say he had to see this. So when we are done with what ever you could call us sitting and not talking for a long period of time. Luke takes the bill because it's his turn. And we walk across the street to the shop.

When we open the familiar scent and sound come rushing back. We walk in and of course I look around thinking of buying the seconds plant case that was with the first one. While I'm looking at it Cody and Luke make small talk laughing about something stupid I can tell bye the way Luke's eyes crinkle when he laughs really hard. After a bit Luke walks over to me and watches me try to figure this box out because it's different than the other one. Luke does the same thing as Cody he try's to help. And the same thing happens I decline and figure it out on my own as I'm playing with it Luke rest his head on my shoulder and wraps and arm around my waist. "Bec I'm tired" he digs his head into the crook of my neck causing my heart to swoon and I melt. I put my hand on his cheek and rest my head on his loving the feeling.

That awesome feeling that rushes over me is soon torn from my soul as the door opens and a pretty blonde walks in that catches Luke's attention. Even though I love Luke he has always been a womanizer from one girl to the next with no pauses in between. As the girl looks at Luke she walks by and to the back and of course he follows. As soon as Luke's hand leaves my waist I feel shattered. I try to hide it but fall into a state where I'm blinking back tears. I have no idea why I'm crying but I can't stop and before I know it here is Cody. Like of course Cody come to the rescue. But at this moment I could care less he looks at me and when he is about to ask if I'm ok I put my hand up as if say don't speak because if he does I know I will full on cry.

I look up to see Luke walking out with the girl toll behind like a lost puppy and then it happens I cry and all I can make out is, "do you guys have a bathroom?" "Yeah around the corner to the right." He points to the back room and I make a dash for it. As soon as I'm in the bathroom I let it all out covering myself with my hoodie to disguise the sobs. After a while I hear Cody at the door "I hope you are not actually using the bathroom because I'm coming in." And sure enough he walks in.

Cody POV:

"I hope you are not actually using the bathroom because I'm coming in." I say as I walk in. When I'm in I see Bec sitting on the toilet her black nike hoodie sleeves covering her red cheeks. She peaks through her hands and looks up at me. Her eyes look really blue contrasted against her red face. "Please don't look at me I'm a really ugly crier." She say muffled by her sweater paws. "Bec I could careless what you look like as long as your ok" I say walking over pulling her arms up and away from her face. I pull her into a hug and she buries her head into the crook of my neck and I can feel hear hot breath and lips on my neck which sends chills down my spine. She is all I want right now.
