Chapter Four:

To the mall!

🐾

“Gale where are you? It's time to go” I called out in our apartment. She was playing hide and seek but I wasn't in the mood for it.

It has been two weeks since I bumped into that other wolfborn. I haven't seen another one or picked up any unordinary scents, but I have been catching glimpse of shadows, but that could just be my paranoia talking. I was able to calm myself down enough to think clearly and not pack up and leave at the first sign of trouble. If I needed to fight in the end that would make me look weak, putting Gale and I in more trouble rather then staying put.

The full moon was tomorrow making me antsy and a bit moody, an ich to get to the forest scratching at my skin. Wolfborns can control when they want to shift but every fullmoon they will change against there will when the moon hits its peek and change back when it sets. I had found a safe place not too long after I was exiled, there I could shift without trouble. It was about a 2 hour drive out of the city into the country side, but I have yet to bump into another wolf when out.

Getting back to the task at hand, I concentrated and sniffed the air. Gales scent was everywhere but it was most potent… there!

I walked over to the door and opened it, before closing it as if I were to leave. I then carefully and quietly walked over to the kitchen counter and hoped up onto it quietly. I went above the cupboard door Gales scent was strongest at and waited. After a moment the cupboard door opened and a ball of blonde curls popped out. She slowly got out and called into the so callled empty apartment “Daddy?...”

Thats when I snatched her from behind and claimed “gotcha!” with a playful growl attached.

Gale bursted into tears catching me off guard as I pulled her up into a hug. “Shhhh baby don't cry” I cooed to her “I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you."

I brought her up and craddled her in my arms, tucking her head into my chest and resting my chin ontop of the bundle of blonde curls. “I though you left me…” she sobbed.

My heart broke at her confession, “oh baby I would never leave you, I was just trying to play a prank, I promise I won't do it again”. She sniffled trying to calm herself down as I sat her on my legs and used my thumbs to wipe away her tears. I hated when she cried and it broke me that I was the one that caused it. “How about we get you a tattoo, would that make you feel better?”

She sniffled and rubbed her eyes “can I get two?”

I huffed a chuckle and smiled “of course baby” I kissed her forehead to seal the deal.

🐾

Rolling into the mall, I parked the car in a baby spot. Getting out I went around, opening the rear door and helped Gale out of her car seat. Once she was out I grabbed the backpack that I kept the essentials in before locking the car.

I picked Gale up and we headed to the entrance, being so small I was always concerned that she wouldn't be seen in a parking lot, so until she gets a little bigger I wouldn't mind being a little extra cautious. Plus Gale seemed thankful that she could rest, her eyes still a little puffy from earlier so she hid her face in my neck. It was comforting for both of us.
