Our city was divided in a certain interesting way. It was divided into several walls, behind which your future destiny was determined. Were you born behind the very first wall? You will work your whole life without rest and receive mere pennies. Otherwise, if you were born behind the last wall, you will bathe in luxury. This method was quite popular among the rulers of our times. In this way, they could maximally protect themselves from the world that is outside the walls, from the world teeming with robbery, plunder and other sinful atrocities. So I, a child who was born outside the 2nd wall, did not have the right to "increase" my title. As the local elders say: "If you were born with a low status, you will not see a sweet life." They speak the truth, even the highest ranks ask them for practical advice. They say that they have seen distant times. The times when the capital had not yet been built, and they defended this land. Only they did not defend it from other nations. For some reason, they never told us the details. Perhaps the higher ranks know about it, what would some rabble know about it. The children of my class have practically one dream - to go beyond the wall. And then - some will go to the capital, some will go into the dense forest, to explore what the elite guards are afraid of. I have a dream of becoming the defender of my village. It is constantly humiliated by the guards or people from the capital. Also, someone on the other side of the wall is trying to get to us. Who it is - we are not told.
