After an hour of the opening program for the first day of school, Yssey and Asvien went to have a snack at the canteen.
The entire program consisted of speeches by each teacher and the principal. After welcoming the new teachers and transfer students, the principal dismissed the students from the gymnasium so they could get snacks.
The two girls entered the bustling canteen, joining the long line of students. Although their school had three canteens, the large student population often meant they could fill up quickly, especially during recess.
"Are you hungry?" Asvien asked Yssey while they were still on the line.
Yssey shrugged, "I will not know until I see my favorite snack from this canteen." Yssey said without looking at Asvien. She is pertaining to her favorite caramel popcorn.
"I'll just get a chicken salad since I took my fat breakfast earlier." Yssey just nodded to what Asvien shared.
While the line is moving, three girls call Yssey and Asvien's names from behind. The two girls turn around to see who called them.
The two girls were puzzled, unable to recognize the three junior student girls. They could tell the girls were from the junior year by their uniforms.
Yssey and Asvien's popularity meant they were frequently approached by students, making it difficult to recognize the three juniors among the crowd.
"May I know if we know you?" Asvien asked the three juniors kindly. Yssey is the same as Asvien who is confused.
The girl in the center smiled at the two and introduced themselves as Katherine, girl in the center, Lerille, girl on the left, and Lerthy on the right.
Lerille adjusted her long, straight black hair before speaking. "We met at my brother's birthday party, Leon, last month during our summer vacation. We just wanted to say hello," she said, offering a charming smile.
After hearing that, Yssey and Asvien finally remembered the three juniors. Leon is a great friend of Yssey and Asvien's older brothers. So, the two girls got invited too for that party in Leon, Lerrile, and Lerthy's mansion.
The two smiled at the juniors and apologized for forgetting. The three just shrugged it off and told the two that they understood.
"That party was incredible!" Asvien exclaimed, forming a large rainbow with her hands. "We think it's the most fun party we've ever experienced during our vacation! So, thank you for inviting us," the three giggled in agreement. "And thank you for accompanying us during the party," Asvien added.
Yssey listened quietly as the four girls wore small smiles. Suddenly, she remembered the embarrassing incident that had occurred before the party.
FLASHBACK
"We're here, Yssey." Ylai, Yssey's brother said after parking his car in front of a massive see through house that Yssey thinks is a beautiful mansion.
Imagine a three-story, transparent home surrounded by lush greenery. A spacious garden stretches out, featuring a grand fountain adorned with meticulously trimmed bushes. To the left, a luxurious fireplace adds a touch of warmth, while to the right, a large, open cabin bursts with colorful flowers. It's a picture of elegance and natural beauty.
Ylai got out of the driver's seat and walked towards Yssey who was in the passenger seat fixing her dress, Yssey is wearing a black mini dress with an asymmetrical neckline and a bow detail. Ylai opened her door and helped her sister get off his car.
"Don't worry about the people here that got invited, they're just college students, Yssey, not monsters for you to be scared," Ylai said gesturing peace signs when he said the 'monster'. "And remember? Vien and Gray are here, so you don't have to worry about anything else, stop being scared of people, just enjoy this party, and come out of your comfort zone." Her brother said to lessen Yssey's nervousness.
Yssey, not much of a party girl, was nervous about attending the party. Her brother, being persistent, kept urging her to get dressed and join him at his friend's party. Ylai believed her sister was becoming too immersed in books, movies, and food and needed to step outside her comfort zone. Finally, after an hour of her brother's nagging, Yssey agreed to go.
Ylai's comforting words did not affect Yssey at all.
'I haven't even met his friend yet who invited us for his birthday!' she said in her mind. Yssey only knew the name of the celebrant.
When she remembered that Asvien was also going, she grabbed her smart phone and texted her best friend, Asvien.
To: Vien From: Yssey
'Where are you? We're here at the front yard's garden.'
Yssey waited for her best friend's reply but didn't get any after almost two minutes of standing in front of the garden besides her brother, Ylai who's looking himself on his cellphone's camera.
Then suddenly, the two siblings hear people calling Ylai's name.
"Yssey, just stay here for a while, my colleagues are waving at me there." Ylai pointed at his colleagues sitting on the luxurious fire pit not far from where they were standing. Yssey just nodded even though she doesn't want to be alone.
When Ylai walks away, she decides to roam in the garden for her to find a bench to sit on while the party is not yet starting.
'This garden is as huge as our garden,' in her mind.
She spotted a charming beige swing, clearly expensive, situated near the large cabin. A smile spread across her face as she slowly approached the swing. Hopping onto it and settling in comfortably, her feet dangled above the ground. Since she was wearing a black dress, she adjusted it to cover her white thighs.
She was peacefully swinging back and forth when she caught a glimpse of a man's figure in her peripheral vision. Assuming the man was walking in the opposite direction, she paid him no mind.
Yssey heard him cough twice, awkwardly turning her head toward the unfamiliar man.
"Didn't you notice me?" the man asked her, his eyes serious and confused as he looked into Yssey's.
Yssey examined the guy, wearing a black crewneck t-shirt and black pants which Yssey thinks fit him great, the black crewneck t-shirt was tucked in his black pants, and he was wearing a silver watch. The color of his eyes is a mix of blue and gray while its hair color is pure black.
Yssey changed her awkward emotion into none—looking at the man's eye too.
She opened her soft and pink lips. "No, sorry..." she lied.
The man stood straight and walked towards her while both hands were in his pants pockets. The man saw how Yssey gulped and sat straight—now on its nervous emotion.
When Yssey looked at him without showing any of her emotions, he was amazed and wanted more of her gaze with its hazelnut-colored eyes.
