THERE was a long 10 seconds pause then he spoke, "It's- I just got here yesterday so I don't know where everybody lives" he clarified with a chuckle. "Oh y-yeah, sure" I said now feeling embarrassed.

He was the first one to walk out and I followed him. When we got outside the store, I assumed that we're going to walk to the mayor's place. It's not that far from here. He then pointed me the bike he own and told me that we're gonna use it. "What is it?" He asked when he noticed that I seemed to be nervous. I never really rode a bike before or rode a bike with someone.

No one taught me how to ride one. My mother don't know how too. My father knows how, I saw him teaching Martin when we were 7. But he never really lent time to teach me. I spoke so he wouldn't asked me about it. "Would it carry us both? I mean, have you tried riding it with another person?" I asked without thinking. It looks like it can but looks can be deceiving, right? Not to mention the three big lanterns that we will be delivering to the mayor.

"Of course! What do you think about me?" he said, now smiling widely.
"Delicious?" I mumbled and hope he didn't hear it. "What?" he asked, "Nothing" I said while hiding my grin.

What the fuck did I just said?!

We'll, it's kinda true...

No no! I can't just say that to a person I barely know!

"Give me the lanterns, I'll hold it" I offered. He gave it to me and I hop at the back of his bike-standing. "Hold on tight to my shoulder" he suggested. Well, he offered it, why not? I hold his left shoulder with my left hand while the other is holding the lanterns to my back.

We never really talk on the way but I keep holding his shoulder tighter when he speeds up. He seems like to notice it and I thought he's gonna slow down now. But he still keeps speeding and now almost every time. I was about to tell him to slow down but my attention caught when I glanced on the mirror. It's just his face grinning at me. I felt my blood rushed into my cheeks so I quickly turned away and focus my attention to the houses that we passes.

When we got there, I immediately got down. He park his bike beside the gate as I walk to the gate and pressed the doorbell. I pressed it twice when a voice came out from the box above the doorbell. 'Who is it?' says a voice that I recognized to be my father's. I signal Cedric to do the talking. I don't want to let my father know that I'm here but either way, he would probably not gonna care.

"Ah sir, it's a delivery for the mayor?" he started. "It's the lanterns he ordered from my uncle, Mr. Santos" he continued. Then the gate automatically opened. I look at Cedric's face, he seems to be amazed and turned to me while uttering the word 'wow' without a sound. It's kinda cute... No, it's not.

We went inside and I told him that I'm just gonna stay outside. But it's no use, a girl opened the door. She is a skinny girl, with a short curly hair, looks like the same age to us. Based on her wearing, She might be the mayor's granddaughter. She smiled at us. "Thank you for delivering it! How much is it?" she asked us. "Um, My uncle said it's on the house." My Cedric said, I mean he.

"Oh, let him know we said thanks" she smile at him. Then she turned to me. "Aren't you Mr. San Agustin's son?" she asked politely. "'Course not" I defend. But she just laughed but it's still polite to hear. "Your father's inside, don't you wanna say hello?" she offered. "No thanks, we're gonna leave, alright?" I insist. "Oh okay, goodbye then" she farewell.

"DON'T ask" I said when we got out and Cedric still looking at me. "Why? I'm curious" he said but without a smile. Ugh, Can't he just smile all the time? "Don't" I told him again but now sounding cold. "Okay fine, but can you ride the bike this time?" I frozed, he finally bring up the sentence I most fear of. "H-hard pass" I said then looked away. I glanced at him quickly and now he's wearing he's most grinning face.
