It had been a month since Nivedita and Dhanush's wedding, and in that time, both of them had subtly but surely felt the changes in themselves and their relationship.
From the initial awkwardness, their bond had evolved into something warm, comforting, and-unexpectedly-deep.
What started as a friendly rapport was now shifting into an easy friendship, and in many ways, the lines between friendship and love were beginning to blur.
Nivedita had grown used to Dhanush's witty, straightforward nature.
His humor, which had initially caught her off-guard, now brought her laughter on days she least expected it.
Somehow, she found herself liking the way he spoke his mind without hesitation, his dry remarks always lightening her mood.
In return, Dhanush had also noticed changes in himself.
His once chaotic habits-like leaving his clothes strewn across the room-had shifted.
Without even realizing it, he had started organizing their room, keeping his things neatly folded and arranged in the cupboard.
Nivedita had teased him a few times about it, but he would just grin, shrug it off, and carry on with his new routine.
As for Nivedita, she found herself slowly growing more comfortable in her new home.
Riya, her mother-in-law, was nothing like the intimidating figure she had feared.
Instead, Riya had become something of a second best friend to Nivedita.
She was fun-loving, lively, and always had a sparkle in her eyes.
Spending time with her mother-in-law had revealed where Dhanush got his spirited nature from.
The two were like peas in a pod, their playful bickering and infectious energy filling the house with joy.
One afternoon, Nivedita found herself sitting at the dining table, watching as Riya and Dhanush bantered about whose cooking was better.
Riya laughed, throwing a mock glare at her son. "Acha? Tu toh apne parathe se hi sabko impress kar raha hai. Magar maa se achha khaana banane ka sapna kabhi poora nahi hoga."
Dhanush grinned, glancing at Nivedita as he answered his mother. "Maa, main dekh raha hoon ki kaise aap humesha competition mein rehte ho. Mera khaana aapke khaane se zyada popular ho gaya hai, accept it."
Nivedita chuckled quietly, shaking her head at their friendly spat.
Watching them like this, she could see how much of Riya's personality had rubbed off on Dhanush.
It was a trait she had come to admire-how both of them could make even the most mundane moments light and fun.
But as close as she had grown to Riya, there was another bond that had quietly formed in the background-her connection with Rituraj, her father-in-law.
Rituraj was the opposite of his lively wife and son.
He was a quiet, kind man who preferred to listen rather than speak.
His thoughtful, calm presence was something that Nivedita found comforting, especially during their early morning tea sessions.
Every day, just after dawn, she and Rituraj would sit together on the porch, each with a cup of tea in hand.
They'd discuss a range of topics-everything from the state of the economy to the latest political debates.
Sometimes they would share jokes, and other times, they would indulge in a bit of good-natured "bitching" about their respective spouses.
