"Hey Cecilia, you're breaking my heart and shaking my confidence daily" Madeline sang, playing the guitar. Cecilia stood in the audience filming her.
Madeline winked at her from the stage where she stood singing that song, almost serenading Cecilia with her eyes and the song but the meaning of the lyrics saying something else completely.
It didn't matter that the lyrics were about a break up, love was still all up in the air. Madeline with the guitar captured all the audience in a trance looking at their loved ones and some lovelorn audience looking towards Madeline, but her eyes were on the love of her life, Cecilia.
Cecilia and Madeline met when they were 20, they had just come into college, and were struggling to survive in a new environment, but were happy to be away from home nonetheless. Cecilia had come from a broken home, her parents fighting every day, yelling at each other. Madeline didn't even have a home so to speak of; she was an orphan who had no home so as to speak of, she was brought up in an orphanage. Their unfortunate circumstances only brought them closer, an understanding forming between the both of them during their first year together as friends.
As they graduated college, the year after, the long distance only made them more courageous and they got together as lovers two years after knowing each other.
For everyone else, the time they have known each other to fall in love might seem a little short. But as they say, sometimes even strangers feel like home at first sight and that's what happened. There's something in their souls that resonates and sings when they're with each other.
As the long distance grew to living together, their love only grew, but with more love, comes arguments. Arguments about not caring, arguments about caring too much. They were but minor arguments, minor enough that they could be safely called banter but still disagreements nonetheless.
Cecilia's mother had called her one day randomly, Cecilia would have normally never picked up without Madeline, her mother triggers her panic attacks badly and she'd try to avoid it without having her safe place to calm down. But something in her urged her to pick the call, it was an itch in her. So, she did.
Cecilia's mother, Amy had called to confront her about Madeline. Cecilia hadn't told her mom about being a lesbian and certainly hadn't told her about dating Madeline. She didn't even understand how Amy found out, Josephine her sister would never tell on her to anyone, least of all Amy.
Amy had started yelling before Cecilia could even open her mouth, Madeline just grabbed the phone out of her hands. Cecilia didn't even know where Madeline came from but just that she was amazing.
Thank God for Madeline, She didn't even bother listening to the nonsense coming out of Amy's mouth and immediately cut the call. Cecilia just grabbed onto her and, Madeline maneuvered Cecilia carefully until she was hugging her and just held her until Cecilia let go.
Cecilia just slightly let go of her, just enough to give her a peck on the lips but Madeline never liked to stop at a small peck. She asked in whisper for consent to kiss her into the small gap of air between them, and with a nod from Cecilia. She proceeded to dip Cecilia and kiss her till both of them were grasping at each other's clothes, and they were both panting for air.
Cecilia had started to laugh as she caught her breath, Madeline joined her. They would've looked like people who had lost their minds, to anyone else had been there but they were alone and enjoying their time. The glimmer of smile and the fond eyes after they had stopped laughing.
Madeline had no clue why Cecilia started laughing, but her laughter was infectious and her smile was beautiful. Just as they settled down, there came knock on the door.
