"Everyone please settle down," the teacher clapped his hands and scanned the class with irritation, beckoning his hands for lively students to sit, commanding troublemakers to silence and interrupting petty conversations between groups until they stopped.

The class was exceptionally rowdy today for some reason, some students waited in anticipation as they watched the hands of the clock silently and slowly creep along the numbers until they would trigger the sound of the glorious bell whilst the majority of the class continued to ignore the continuing pleas of their homeroom teacher praying for discipline.

A student located on the back corner of the classroom only stared out the window during her class' calamity. Her lifeless grey eyes remain locked on the skies blooming outside the autumn afternoon. She let out a sigh and trailed her fingers across the glass, following the trickling orange and yellow leaves elegantly parting from the trees' branches.

She glanced at the clock and gently paced her tapping on the smooth surface of her wooden desk.

She only wished time would go slower. The basketball team had reserved the hall today due to the wet conditions on the outside court, so the volleyball team had no choice but to miss and wait for practice to commence next week. From that moment, she despised the basketball team, sending bitter and hostile stares and any member who'd dare to even send a mere glance towards her direction.

After ten minutes of finally managing to silence the class, the teacher adjusted his glasses and commenced the lesson with his usual, dull and disinterested tone.

"Today, we will beginning a new topic," he begun to write notes on the board while his words continued to drone on. "We will be exploring and discussing iterative methods for numerical estimation of the roots of a polynomial equation."

The entire class groaned as the male apathetically plastered his gaze towards the blackboard, spurring equations and notes from one side to the other. He had sought no benefits from constantly raising his voice and disciplining his students for silence anymore, instead he had merely lost interest. His goal was to complete all that was required to teach and only wait till the day he could retire.

Yet strangely, his method of ignoring the class had oddly worked. Students were left in bore yet they were left in silence as well, forced to do nothing but gawk at the blackboard in defeat, while their hands were mindlessly scribbling foreign equations.

Though the student in the back corner remain tame as usual. Her motionless lean figure remain the same as the last time you'd see her and her eyes didn't twitch let alone blink which always left the world surrounding her wonder, through those lifeless grey eyes, through her unfazed and cerebral disposition, what was roaming in her head?

There was not much to say about Nakama Aoi.

She was like all the usual people in the world, just another usual human being that deprived another patch of space on the planet. She was not significant in any particular manner, she was not wealthy nor in any sense underprivileged and she was not any model yet she was no ugly duckling.

Most students within the class disregarded any affiliation with others unless they were personal friends or related to their own families. Yet regardless of any type of relationship, everyone within the school had some sort of knowledge about another student.

Aoi resided in Kōfu, a small and somewhat traditional town located northeast in the Hino District within the Tottori Prefecture. It was one of those typical towns where the saying "everyone knows everyone" ran its course. And it was true, everyone knew Aoi as Aoi knew everyone.
