CONTINUATION
"You must be Yssey Poleman, Ylai's sister, right?" The man asked—now in front of Yssey.
Yssey just nodded, not looking at him.
The man steps closer and reaches his hand in front of Yssey. "I'm Leon."
Yssey was shocked. She hadn't expected that the guy she had ignored and lied to was actually Leon. She also hadn't anticipated that he would be this handsome in person. Yssey didn't take his hand; instead, she just looked at it, waiting for it to be shake. She felt embarrassed about her earlier stupidity.
Leon put his hand back, in his pocket when he noticed that Yssey is shy and didn't want to shake hands. Leon wanted to shake Yssey's hand because he's curious about how soft Yssey's hand is.
"I'm sorry for disturbing you, hope you enjoy the party later." Said Leon with a sincere smile. Yssey is even more embarrassed now after hearing Leon's sorry.
"Thank you, I just thought you were not going to my direc— "
"Yssey, there you are!" Yssey didn't finish her sentence when her brother called her. Ylai noticed Leon standing in front of Yssey, which confused him for a moment, but he set that aside and smiled at Leon. "Leon! Happy birthday! Thanks for inviting us." They bumped fists and shared a side hug while tapping each other's shoulders.
"Thanks, Ylai. I was just looking around to greet the guests when I saw your sister here..." Leon said.
Yssey was about to get off the swing when Leon gently supported her by holding her arms and the upper part of her hips to help her down.
Ylai was about to help her too but when he saw Leon's move before him, he stopped and just looked at her sister's red face and Leon's serious face.
END OF FLASHBACK
After Yssey remembered that embarrassing day with Leon, Asvien was already ordering their food and guiding Yssey toward their favorite spot in the canteen.
After that party, Yssey couldn't get Leon's face out of her mind for almost a week. However, as she became busier with her plans for the start of senior year, she eventually pushed thoughts of him aside. Now, though, recalling the party brought back memories of his handsome face and stoic presence.
Asvien looked at Yssey who was in her own world, sitting in front of her. Asvien snapped her finger in front of Yssey's face then she laughed when the surprised face of Yssey lit up.
"Stop..." said, Yssey—pouting.
"Then stop losing focus and eat up." Asvien grinning.
The two devoured their chicken salad and caramel popcorn with pink lemonade each.
The day went fast. The two girls are now in front of their family car at the school's parking lot with its own driver/bodyguard. The two exchanged bye and hugged each other before entering their car.
Yssey's driver/bodyguard, Rujie who's in his mid-twenties opened the back door for Yssey, Rujie then close the door and walk towards the driver's seat to get going.
"Kuya Rujie, is mommy Yrain at home?" Yssey asked after a while.
"Yes, Yssey, she is cooking adobo the last time I saw her as I headed to your school."
Yssey just nodded even though Rujie cannot see her. She opened her phone and started playing soduko.
'Might as well play this game since Leon recommended this.'
They arrived at Yssey's home after 20 minutes of travel. Rujie parked the car in front of the Polemans' garden and then opened Yssey's door. She whispered a thank you and walked toward the grand entryway, where Rujie held the door open for her.
As Yssey stepped into the house, the familiar scent of adobo wafted through the air, instantly making her stomach rumble. She kicked off her shoes and headed toward the kitchen, where she could see her mother, Yrain, stirring a pot on the stove.
"Hi, Mom! It smells amazing!" Yssey exclaimed, walking up to the counter to grab a piece of fresh fruit.
"Thanks, sweetie! I'm glad you're home. How was school?" Yrain asked, turning to give her daughter a warm smile.
"It was good! Just the usual opening of classes," Yssey replied.
As she snacked on the fruit, her thoughts drifted back to that day at Leon's party. Suddenly, she heard Rujie clearing his throat from the entrance.
"Excuse me, Ma'am Yrain, but there's a delivery at the front." Rujie's tone was professional, but there was a hint of curiosity in his eyes as he glanced at Yssey.
"Delivery? I wasn't expecting anything," Yrain said. "Can you check it out, Kuya Rujie?"
'Maybe it's for daddy.' Yssey thought.
A few moments later, Rujie returned, holding a small package and looking slightly amused. "It's for you, Yssey."
Yssey's heart raced. "Me? What is it?"
Rujie handed her the package, and she noticed a note attached to it. Carefully, she peeled off the wrapping, revealing a beautifully designed sketchbook. On the front cover, there was a note in a familiar neat handwriting:
"Thought you might enjoy some doodling. I hope you still remember me. - YouWillKnowSoon"
Yssey was confused after reading the note. The handwriting is familiar to her, but her mind cannot process who would send this to her.
'I will know soon. What does that mean?'
