The following morning, Jungkook had decided to take Taehyung with him to his movie set. Taehyung, still seething over the events from earlier that day, was less than thrilled, but he didn’t have much of a choice. Jungkook had insisted, and Taehyung wasn’t in the mood to argue.
As they stepped onto the bustling set, Taehyung immediately noticed the shift in atmosphere. The moment they arrived, eyes turned in their direction---some subtle, others blatant---and Taehyung could feel the weight of their gazes on him. The entire set seemed to buzz with whispers, some in admiration, others in suspicion, and even a few in thinly veiled disdain.
Jungkook, as always, exuded confidence, his hand resting lightly on Taehyung’s lower back as he guided him through the maze of lights, equipment, and staff. He had his usual smirk plastered on his face, unfazed by the attention, while Taehyung did his best to ignore the stares.
A group of makeup artists nearby whispered among themselves, one of them nudging her colleague with her elbow.
"Is that Taehyung?" one of them asked, her voice low but audible enough to catch Taehyung’s attention. "How did he manage to snag JK?"
"I know, right? He's so lucky," another said, her tone dripping with a mix of envy and admiration. "I mean, Jungkook is... well, Jungkook!"
Taehyung stiffened, pretending not to hear them as they giggled behind their hands, their eyes darting between him and Jungkook. He forced himself to keep his expression neutral, though inside, he felt like rolling his eyes.
As they walked past, he overheard another group, this time two young female assistants, chatting not-so-quietly behind them.
"I don’t get it," one of them said, her voice laced with irritation. "What does JK even see in him? He could have anyone he wants, and he picks... him?"
Taehyung’s jaw clenched. He didn’t need to look to know they were glaring at him.
“Ugh, I know! He must have something on Jungkook, there’s no way this is real,” her friend added.
Jungkook, still beside him, didn’t seem to notice or, more likely, didn’t care. His fingers brushed casually along Taehyung’s back, reminding him of the possessive grip he always had---whether Taehyung liked it or not.
As they made their way to the director’s area, Taehyung caught sight of a few others who seemed to have a different opinion.
"Damn, look at him," a male cameraman muttered under his breath to another crew member. His gaze was fixed on Taehyung with clear admiration. "I must say Jungkook is lucky one. Taehyung looks unreal. He’s... I don’t even have words."
"I know what you mean. He’s like... art or something. Both of them together? That’s just unfair," the other replied, shaking his head in disbelief. "I guess it makes sense though. Jungkook’s at the top, and now he’s got someone who matches that level."
Taehyung almost faltered at the unexpected praise. He wasn’t used to being admired so openly, especially in this environment. It was strange hearing people call him lucky when he felt anything but. Jungkook’s the one who’s lucky? he thought bitterly.
As they neared the filming area, one of Jungkook’s long-time costars approached them, flashing a smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes. She glanced between them, her eyes lingering on Taehyung for just a second too long before she looked back at Jungkook.
"Nice to see you bringing company, Jungkook," she said smoothly, though her smile was tight. "I didn’t expect to see... this," she added, gesturing vaguely towards Taehyung.
Jungkook chuckled lightly, his hand slipping from Taehyung’s back as he stepped forward. "I figured it was time," he said, his voice relaxed and playful, though Taehyung could sense the subtle tension beneath his words. "After all, Taehyung's part of my life now."
