Morning at Samruddhi's Home
Samruddhi came down the stairs, ready for college, and smiled when she saw her parents sitting at the breakfast table.
They greeted her warmly as she sat down to join them. For a moment, the house was filled with light laughter and chatter.
But Samruddhi's smile faded when her father mentioned, "We're having dinner with Arjun's family tonight."
A small flashback played in her mind, reminding her how close their families used to be. Samruddhi and Arjun were inseparable once, childhood best friends, but everything had changed.
She never thought she'd have to cut ties with him.
"Samu, I heard there's a prom coming up at your university?" her mother asked. "Did Arjun ask you already?"
Samruddhi grew quiet, focusing on her food. "I'm not going to the prom, Mom. I'm not interested."
Her mother sighed, knowing that once Samruddhi made up her mind, no one could change it.
Samruddhi had been avoiding anything to do with Arjun ever since their friendship fell apart. She valued her space, preferring to be alone rather than deal with the confusion of broken bonds.
Her father, trying one last time, said, "Samu, you should go and live your life out there."
Ignoring them, Samruddhi finished her breakfast and headed out. "Bye, Mom. Bye, Dad," she said, stepping outside for college.
COLLEGE
When Samruddhi arrived at college, she noticed her friends were involved in a serious conversation. Her eyes were secretly searched for Arjun, but he was nowhere to be seen.
Neither were his friends or Kiara. Shrugging off her thoughts, she walked to her seat.
Her friends asked, "Are you going to prom?"
"No," Samruddhi replied firmly. "I'm not interested."
Sejal tried to persuade her, but Samruddhi remained strong. She had made up her mind, and nothing could change it.
Later Sejal and Bhargavi dragged samruddhi to the canteen to have snacks.
While they were eating Sejal got a call and without attending it she looked at Bhargavi.
Sejal and Bhargavi exchanged secretive glances while Samruddhi tried to figure out what was going on.
Growingly suspicious, she stopped and asked, "What are you two up to?"
"Nothing! Come on, we don't have time. Let's go!" Sejal quickly said, trying to brush it off.
Before Samruddhi could question further, Sejal and Bhargavi grabbed her by the arm, leading her back to class.
She wasn't interested in whatever plan they had, but they dragged her along anyway.
When they arrived, the classroom was completely dark. Samruddhi frowned, her suspicion growing.
Suddenly, the lights switched on, and there, right in front of her, stood Arjun, holding a signboard that read, "Will you go to prom with me?"
Samruddhi stood frozen in shock. Arjun, asking her? The last person she expected. A flood of thoughts crashed into her mind.
what about their broken friendship?
What about Kiara?
Why was he doing this?
