It's been 2 months of their marriage but Mahir's behaviour is still the same towards Zarnab as it was before his mother came to her brother for his proposal. They're childhood friends and neighbours. They grew up together and gradually Zarnab started developing feelings for him but she never got the chance to confess. After completing their high school together, he moved to another city for further studies and she lost contact with him. She lost all her hopes of meeting him again but her fate was with her, and luckily one fine day, his mother and he came over their home for her proposal and their marriage was fixed. But Zarnab noticed he didn't remain the same Mahir she fell in love with. His behaviour was rude with her from the very first day. And when she couldn't bear it anymore, she finally thought of asking him the reason behind his rudeness.

I was done doing the house chores and making the dinner. I thought of having a chit chat with Aunty (his mother). I used to talk to her whenever I felt my heart heavy, because her words somehow console me. So I went to her room but find her sleeping so I came back. I was getting bored as I had a habit of talking to her everyday so I thought why not to read a novel. I stepped into my room and grabbed a novel from the bookshelf. Few minutes later, I looked at my phone to check the time. It's 10:30 pm meant Mahir was about to be home at anytime. As soon I started reading, the doorbell rang and I kept the book aside and I ran to open it. As my eyes fell on him, I found him looking extremely exhausted. His face was dull.
"You go and change, I'd make your favourite black coffee than we'll have dinner together."I said as he stepped inside but he frowned in annoyance.
"I don't want anything and don't keep waiting for me!!"
He said irritatingly and left for the room. I felt a bit bad but didn't mind it. I went to kitchen and prepared his strong black coffee because he need it the most right now. I poured the coffee in a cup and went upstairs only to find him working on his laptop. I placed the cup on his study table and cleared my throat to gain his attention but he didn't give a damn and kept working.
"Mahir!!"
I said, taking a few steps towards him. He lifted his face as if asking me 'what?'
"I- I want- to talk to you."
I said and waited for his reply.
"Zarnab can't you see I'm working!"
He said, sounding pissed off and that's when my patience died and I reached over him and grabbed his laptop.
"You have to listen to me!!!"
I shouted.
"What is this behaviour??"
"This is exactly what I wanna know Mahir! Why are you behaving with me in this way?? What have I done to deserve your rudeness!! Tell me what is it!!"
I asked, my voice filled with anger and pain. He shut his eyes and passed his fingers through his hair in frustration and got up from the chair.
"You wanna know right!!"
He said and came near me.
"Now listen! I never wanted to marry you. I love someone else but mom didn't agree for that girl and got me married to you forcely! Now you get your goddamn answer so leave me alone for God's sake!!!"
He said and snatched the laptop from my hand and left the room. I felt my world fell apart and I felt weak in my knees. Tears brimmed in my eyes, blurring my vision. But before it slipped down my cheeks, I wiped it off.
"I'll set you free of this forced relationship."
I murmured.

The next morning, when Mahir left the city for his business meeting. Zarnab got to know it through her mother in law but didn't make it obvious. When she was done with the morning chores, she went to her mother in law."Aunty, actually, I- I want to meet Ramsha as she had come to India after a long time."
She said.
"Okay Zarnab, call her to come soon! I'd also meet her."
She responded.
"Uh- actually she has called me over her home today, so can I go?"
I asked, hesitantly. It's not like she doesn't let me go anywhere, it's just that because I'm lying to her about the meet-up.
"Okay then go safely!"
She said smiling at me and I nodded.
