The sun poured through the towering glass windows of Gemini's office, casting long shadows on the polished floor. As he reviewed the latest projections for Divine Group, his mind wandered to the inevitable meeting he had been dreading all week. His parents had decided that he and Fourth would become business partners, a twist that both excited and frustrated him.
The tension in the air was palpable as Gemini entered the conference room. Fourth was already there, casually leaning against the table, arms crossed, a playful smirk on his lips. Despite their mutual animosity, the sight of him stirred something deeper in Gemini-an annoyance that flared into jealousy.
"Looks like we're stuck together," Fourth said, his tone laced with mock cheerfulness. "Lucky us."
"Just try not to screw this up, okay?" Gemini replied, trying to keep his tone sharp but feeling an undercurrent of something else entirely.
Fourth rolled his eyes, but the playful banter masked the deeper tension brewing between them. They had spent years as rivals, and now they were forced to combine their strengths to secure a major project that would merge their two companies. The stakes were high, and neither was keen on letting the other gain the upper hand.
As the meeting progressed, Gemini found it increasingly difficult to focus. Fourth's charisma drew people in, and his confident ideas often left Gemini feeling overshadowed. Every time Fourth flashed that charming smile or leaned closer to whisper something in a colleague's ear, a pang of jealousy twisted in Gemini's gut.
"Careful, Fourth," Gemini warned one afternoon, barely able to mask his irritation. "If you keep charming everyone, they'll forget I'm the one running this show."
"Oh, come on. You know I'm just trying to keep it interesting," Fourth replied, his eyes glinting with mischief. "Wouldn't want the investors to fall asleep during our pitch, would we?"
"Right, because it's all about you," Gemini shot back, crossing his arms. "Just remember, I'm the one who knows how to get things done."
"Maybe I should show you how to loosen up a bit," Fourth suggested, stepping closer, the teasing tone in his voice unmistakable. "I could give you a crash course on making an impression. All it takes is a little confidence."
"Is that so?" Gemini replied, intrigued despite himself. "And here I thought you were all talk."
"Oh, I'm all action, too," Fourth challenged, his voice dropping to a sultry whisper. "Care to find out just how persuasive I can be?"
As the weeks wore on, their rivalry turned into a constant game of seduction, each teasing remark charged with hidden meanings. During one meeting, Gemini's frustration boiled over as he watched Fourth charm yet another potential investor.
"Your company is truly impressive," the investor remarked, turning to Fourth with an appreciative nod. "It's clear you have a vision for the future."
Gemini clenched his jaw, the familiar irritation bubbling within him. "Well, it's a team effort," he interjected, trying to assert his dominance. "We're both committed to making this project a success."
"Of course," Fourth chimed in, flashing a charming smile that made Gemini's heart race. "But let's not forget who came up with the innovative solutions to the problems we face."
After the meeting, as they walked out together, Gemini couldn't hold back any longer. "You didn't need to take over like that," he snapped, frustration seeping into his voice.
Fourth raised an eyebrow, feigning innocence. "I was just contributing to the conversation. Don't tell me you're jealous?"
"I'm not jealous," Gemini shot back, but the heat in his cheeks betrayed him. "I just don't like seeing you hog the spotlight."
