Prologue

Pathetic little humans. They think they're above everything.

I laughed maniacally as I ran with ease, my surroundings looking nothing but a blur at the speed that I was going at.

I leaped through the air and lunged at my prey. It screamed. It screamed and trashed around like it was trying to fight for its life but it should know that all will be futile attempts. Its screams were like music to my ears, an intense symphony which added to the hunger that I was currently feeling.

"Scream my child. No one's going to be disturbed. Scream me a beautiful song to your heart's content. Ah! Yes, your heart." I cooed to her, flipping her body under me so that her back was against the damp ground. I placed my palm above her heart, rubbing on it, loving the feel of its drumming.

"What a lovely sight you're showing me, my child." I stated in a deranged manner, stroking her wet face that was illuminated by the light coming from the moon, with the back of my hand. By this time, her screams were now dying into short gasps of air and quiet sobs.

"Pl-please! Don't do t-thi-" She begged with her pathetic little voice but I stopped her by placing a finger on top of her quivering lips. I leaned into her face until we were now only an inch away. "Child, don't worry. Your life will be significant, it will be remembered. You should be honored, even. For your life will now be worth something." I told her softly, reassuring even.

And without warning, I sank my fangs into her pale and slender neck. Like an encore, it screamed and screamed as I drained her blood. And just like how the pulsing of her veins was coming to a slow rhythm, her screams now also died down into quiet echoes.

As her body went limp under my now warm body filled with her fresh and warm blood, I looked down at her still, pale and horror stricken face and laughed. I laughed at how weak and pathetic humans were. They were mere food. They will always be the prey to hungry predators like me.

"Thank you for the lovely song you sang to me." I murmured one last time as I placed a feathery kiss on her forehead. I stood up and drifted through the woods, disappearing into the thick blackness that the shadow of the trees casted upon the forest.
