“H-how…? How did all this start?!”

Flames are everywhere, burning hot! Sweat drips down my face, and smoke fills the air, burning my throat. Every breath is hard, like I’m breathing fire. I can barely see through the thick, swirling smoke.

“W-Why?! Why is this happening?!”

I don’t know how long it’s been. Minutes? Hours? Everything around me is destroyed. The houses… they lie in ruins, burned down to nothing but ash and rubble. The fire raging through the city has caused too much destruction.

“S-stop!!!”

In front of me, a girl floats in the air. She’s my age, but her whole body is wrapped in flames. The fire moves with her like it’s alive. My heart races. I don’t know how to stop her, but I have to. I’m the only one who can.

“Please! Listen to me!!”

Did everyone escape safely?! I think the firefighters haven't arrived yet. They must believe this it is just a normal fire outbreak.

I look around, searching. Where is he? I can’t see him anywhere. Please… let him be safe!

The fire is spreading, twisting higher and higher, burning everything in its path. I step back, the heat pushing me away. What should I do? How can I stop this?

Should I call her? But… how?

“You! Are you trying to save me?” Her voice cuts through the roaring flames, cold and distant.

Wait… didn’t she have brown eyes? I’m sure they were brown in her picture. But now… they’re red. What happened to her?!

“Do you even have any idea what’s happened to me?!” she yells, her voice shaking with anger.

Her hair is flying around wildly, her hands hard to see through the flames. But I can tell… the fire is strongest there, like it's coming from her. Does she control the fire?

“I… I don’t know what happened to you, but I can tell—”

The heat suddenly grows stronger. The fire flares up, hotter than before, forcing me back. It’s too much! What should I do?!

Why am I even trying so hard for some people I don't know?! Maybe it’s just my nature–

“Looks like you need help,” a voice whispers in my head.

“W- what?! Why did–”

“Does she think she’s the main character? What a joke.” The voice keeps talking, sounding amused. “Show her who you really are, Si—"
