CHAPTER 1

On the cold rainy day which supposed to be snow in this winter season, a blonde girl was waiting for her friend in 8Island café. She's known as Lucy Heartphilia, the only daughter of the known conglomerate "Heartphilia" throughout the Fiore. She's now living in Magnolia city and attending Magnolia College.

And the one she was waiting for none other than her -best- friend. Well, actually they just met months ago coincidental (or maybe fated) in one of their college's hall way. Though it's their first meeting, but with that they've became a very close friend like they've known each other for a long time. Even if that person only used her as his trust-worthy informant, Lucy felt comfortable whenever she's around him.

Lucy looked at her watch and mumbled "He's late!" She's been waiting for him for nearly half an hour already. The said guy really took his time to show up. Lucy took a little sip of her strawberry milkshake and continued reading her novel in her hands. Not long after that, the bell in the café's door rang. It's looked like someone came in and walked toward Lucy's table. Even without avert her gaze from the book, she knew that someone is the one she's been waiting this long, Natsu Dragneel.

"Yo Luce... have you waited for me too long?" asked Natsu cheerfully without feeling guilty at all, and took a seat in front of Lucy which made her a little irritated by his insensitive being.

"Not really," she answered shortly and not looking to the person in front of her. Still have her eyes on the novel. Even the view of falling rain -that she usually love to see- not draw her attention from her book. And by that took Natsu to realization that she was mad at him, now. Well, who's in the world not feeling upset if you have to wait someone who asked to meet you for a long time?!

"Luce..." Natsu tried to get Lucy's attention.

"Yo Lucy, is that book really more interesting than a charming guy in front of you?" Lucy just rolled her eyes and continued reading. This guy really so over-confident!

"Excuse me sir," a waitress interrupted Natsu. "Would you like to order something?" she asked seductively with a wink to add. This is what the most annoyance to Lucy. Whenever or wherever they are, always there are some girls who tried to tempt Natsu. And the over-confident brat also likes to play around with his fans. But not for this time, not when Lucy was in a bad mood because he will screw up everything. Lucy could be really scary sometime, more over if she's moody.

"Just give me the same drink as her," Natsu said with a little smile then turn his attention back to Lucy. The waitress took a little glance at the two for awhile before going back to her job.

"Lucy, I'm sorry okay. My lecturer suddenly gave us a discussion task and we have to submit it today. I don't have a choice right? Since my team's leader is Erza. You do know how she is," Natsu tried to give her reason. Meanwhile Lucy looked like she didn't give a damn about it, though actually she did hear him.

"So, is there any news about Lisanna?" he asked after a little discomfort silence.

Lisanna Strauss is Lucy's junior in Fairy Hills Academy, a boarding-school for girls for Junior High Grade up to Senior High. Lisanna is practically two years below her and now she's in her last year in the mentioned Academy. FHA itself was located in the edge district of Magnolia City. It's so far inland, beyond forest and hills, but it really has a beautiful view and has a lake behind the building for the girls to have a relax time which known as Fairy Lake. They have a very strict regulation there. The students allowed going out of schools' ground, in summer break and winter break.

Which mean, Lisanna is about to go home at any day soon. But before the winter over, she has to go back to school again to have her graduation ceremony. Lucy has decided to help Natsu to meet and have his time with his dreamy girl while she's home. And this reason what made Lucy and Natsu become so close.

Natsu met Lisanna a year ago on summer break in an engagement party. It was his friend's - Sting Eucliff- party. And Lisanna is Yukino's -the said friend's fiancé- cousin, that's why she was there. Sting was the one that introduced him to her. They have a little chat before Lisanna went to meet her other families. Natsu felt so attracted to her, and when she found out that Lucy was her senior in the same school, he didn't hesitate to ask her anything about Lisanna. And Lucy too didn't mind it at all.

Natsu drank a quarter of his milkshake when he realized that Lucy still hasn't answered his question yet. He locked his gaze on her. She still hold the same novel she has from just now, she still has her hazel eyes on her book, she didn't pay any attention towards him at all, and she wasn't letting out any voice except for that "not really" he received in the beginning. "She's really upset!" noted Natsu to himself.

Natsu moved to an empty chair right beside Lucy. He took the book from her grasp and put it on the table, and forced her to face him and looked to his eyes. The important thing to do right now is to clear the matter between them. He didn't care what people think about him, he didn't care what looks people give to him. He didn't actually care about anything except for one, Lucy's ignorance. For that not to happen, he'll do anything. He, himself, didn't really know why it bothered him so much. It looked like he's so thirsty of her care, her attention, her smile, even her scold. So when she decided to ignore him for his life, he's really going to die right there and then. That's how important Lucy's existence for him, which he failed to realize until the day he nearly lose her in the future.

"Hey, I'm sorry ok. I know I'm to blame here. I should text you the minute Erza drag me to the library. So please don't stay mad! Hmmm?" Natsu tried to give her reason for her forgiveness.

"You should text me..." Lucy repeated his words flatly. "That's right, it's what you should have done, earlier ago," she continued.

"I promise I won't let you wait this long again," said Natsu squeezing her hands in his, lightly.

"Listen Natsu, I don't really mind whatever you did, not that I don't care about you. But if you are really can't come on time when we are going to meet like this, you should inform me," Lucy said a bit softly this time. "I'm worried sick about you, you know?! You are the reckless person I ever met. I'm worried if something bad happen to you, it's not that I'm mad because you're late or anything," she continued. They lock each other gaze, so careless if anyone watch them right now or not. Natsu then surprised her by hug and mumbled "I'm sorry," in her neck. Natsu so glad he could meet someone this caring. It's been a long time since he was cared this way, then he felt Lucy return his hug and said "It's ok, just don't let it happen again later. Moreover when you have a rendesvouz with Lisanna, you hear me?" he just nodded. For a moment there, he really forgot it's the reason he wanted to meet Lucy today.
