two. five of cups
The camp was buzzed with whispers and murmurs about the new kid. All told the same tale of him killing a minotaur not far from the border protecting the camp. Others described a more detailed version, including the death of the kid's mother. And there were few who did not believe the story, primarily Clarisse and the rest of Ares' cabin.
Raven did not pay much mind to the whispers. He's had his fair share of stories running rampant about Camp Half-Blood, so he was fine without hearing another one. He sat in his bed with his eyes on the marker drawing small stars on his palms.
"Hey, my witchy boy," Luke called out, towing Raven's focus away from his palm. The Calderu boy stood from his bed and met him halfway.
"Hey, handsome," Raven greeted Luke with a grin as he saw the Castellan boy walk toward his bed. His eyes then landed on the boy with blonde curls and his expression withered into a neutral one as his energies took over his mind and mouth. "Five of Cups."
The sudden words took the smallest of the three boys by surprise. His blue eyes flickered from the Calderu boy to Luke out of worry. Luke chuckled at his expression before nodding his head toward Raven. "This is Raven Calderu, one of the sons of Hecate. Goddess of Magic, Witchcraft, and a whole bunch of other things. Raven here specializes in divination. It sometimes takes him a while to register stuff after a vision," as the words left him, Luke made his way to his boyfriend and took hold of his hand, seeming to draw him out of his daze. Raven blinked twice before looking around nervously. He turned his focus back to Percy, who still seemed shocked by the outburst. "Rae, this is Percy. He's new at camp."
"Let me guess..." Raven let out, veering around to meet his boyfriend's eyes. Luke just nodded his head already knowing what the boy knew. "You owe me."
"I know," Luke spoke softly. Raven turned to Percy before flagging the boy over. "Come here, blondie," the Calderu boy instructed. Percy did as he was told and stood in front of the older boy. Raven held his hand out. "Give me your dominant hand."
"Okay..." the Jackson boy nervously let out. He shot a glance to Luke, who just nodded his head in affirmation.
The blonde boy placed his left hand in Raven's hands and allowed him to inspect it. The Calderu boy traced a finger over the lines of Percy's palms as he focused his powers on the boy who shifted awkwardly from time to time. A confused hum left Raven as he squeezed his eyes shut. Percy and Luke watched as his eyes moved rapidly beneath his eyelids. After a few seconds, Raven's eyes opened and he inspected the Jackson boy's features, leaning his head forward a bit.
"What're you doing?" Percy asked, feeling uncomfortable underneath Raven's curious gaze. Luke simply chuckled at the interaction. "Luke, get your... witch."
"Inconclusive," Raven spoke up. He turned his attention to his boyfriend. "He's a complete mystery... even to witchcraft."
"Is that a good thing?" Luke asked.
"Not for you," Raven snickered. He crossed his arms over his chest. "That means he has to figure it out the hard way. No shortcuts this time, bub." The Castellan boy released a disappointed sigh. "Fine," he muttered before placing his lips against Raven's warm cheek. "Thanks for trying anyway."
"You still owe me," Raven remarked as he watched Luke and Percy make their way out of the cabin. When alone, he returned to his bed and sat at the edge of the mattress. For an instant, he felt pressure against his head as the sound of waves crashing filled his ears. Just as he was about to deduce what it meant, the sound disappeared, leaving the boy to sit in the familiar sound of Cabin 20.
