three. the page of pentacles
The camp fell into a deep stillness under the cloak of night, the kind that envelops everything in a serene hush. Moonlight filtered through the dense canopy, casting silver patterns on the forest floor, creating an ethereal glow that seemed almost magical. For Raven, this tranquil solitude was a cherished escape, a sacred time when he could fully immerse himself in the peace that nature offered. He often ventured into the depths of the woods at this hour, allowing the calmness to wash over him and free him from the burdens of his powers.
Chiron understood this need for solitude. He recognized that the tranquility of the night provided Raven with a rare chance to reflect and recharge. Thus, he made accommodations, ensuring the nighttime silence was preserved, allowing Raven the space to cultivate his thoughts amidst the whispering leaves and the soft rustle of nocturnal creatures.
The Calderu boy sought out the large body of water that surrounded the camp, still pondering the vision he received earlier. The sounds of waves would not leave his mind for the remainder of the day ever since his interaction with Percy. However, a hushed voice paired with the sizzling of a fire took over Raven's senses. The raven-haired boy followed the voice to find the back of a boy's body as he spoke to a small flame in a tin container.
"Well... the good news is... this isn't that call. I hope you're sitting down, but... I think... I've made some friends here. Like, real friends. I think they might really like me. Imagine that," Percy let out. Raven hid behind a tree, large enough to conceal his body from the eyes of the Jackson boy. He was about to push himself to walk away, but then he heard Percy speak again. "He isn't here. My father, he just... didn't show. I mean, ignoring me is one thing, but he doesn't get to ignore you. I'm gonna make him come down here. I'm gonna make him see me. I'm gonna make him see us both."
A whoosh filled the air and the sound of the flame died along with it. Footsteps led in the direction away from Raven, and when the Calderu boy turned to where he last saw Percy, he saw the boy was gone. A hum filled the boy as he processed what the Jackson boy said. His eyes froze in the possible direction that Percy went as he felt his powers take over. The sound of shuffling cards filled his brain and then it stopped.
"The Page of Pentacles," Raven let out suddenly. A few blinks of his eyes later, he was drawn back to the current reality. He scratched his forehead as a way to remember what the cards decided. In his mind, he wished Luke was there. He was the one to remind him of the card's judgment after he forgot. A defeated groan left him before he continued on his way.
