COLLEGE HAS NEVER been more unappealing than right now. All Madeline wants to do is go home and let Tom in through her window so she can just soak up his presence. After their conversation a couple of weeks ago, Madeline was afraid he'd pull away and realise she's way below his level. Who the hell wants to date a girl who was dumb enough to not notice her boyfriend recording her suck him off?

But Tom had done the opposite.

He came her window almost every night and they would either watch a movie or just talk or he'd help her with homework. It was almost too good to be true, Madeline sometimes has a feeling it is. Maybe he's playing the long game...y'know, when a guy knows a girl won't give it up until she trusts him? And then he'd kick her to the curb, after he got what he wanted. It scared her, it scared the hell out of her that she might be falling for a total lie.

He's using you. That voice in the back of her mind is constantly telling her. But another part of herself is saying that he's the only right thing in her life right now, the constant.

"Madeline, are you paying attention?" Her chemistry teacher chimes and she blinks, looking away from the wall to her teacher who's holding a model of an atom and staring at the blonde with raised eyebrows.

"Yes. Sorry." Madeline mutters and Ms. Adams sighs, going back to explaining the properties of the atom in her hand.

After her class, Madeline meets up with Eryn in the library where the red head has spent her free period doing homework.

"I'm so done with college." Eryn grumbles, smacking her forehead against the desk and making Madeline wince. "I might run away and become a bohemian."

"I'll join you." Madeline exhales, looking at the English essay Eryn is currently working on with a screwed up face.

Eryn has always been English smart, whereas Madeline has been maths and science smart since she was in primary school. Madeline enjoys reading, of course, but she's had a hatred for English class since she pulled the short straw in secondary school and was stuck with the bitchiest English teacher of all time. Madeline is a full time believer that the kind of teacher you have impacts how much you enjoy the subject.

"Oh my god!" A girl from the other side of the library gasps. "The police found a body in the river!"

"What?" Eryn and Madeline mutter, standing up along with the other students in the library to crowd around the small television in the library that's almost always streaming the news.
