Chapter twenty three

(Also, I am just now realizing that J stayed to watch the ship, she never went down there. I'm gonna fix it!)

Ari dodged pipes and broken walkways as she tried to escape the cackling she heard behind her. Blinded by fear and adrenaline she crash landed onto a railing and shot upwards. Hopefully to throw her attacker off and get away. As she was shooting upwards at a dangerous speed she began to hear someone shouting from above her. It was almost too late when she looked up and saw N trying to dodge her, holding Tessa. Wide eyed, she thought fast and used another random pipe to push herself away, grabbing it and pushing off it. "SOR-" she crashed into an obstruction of pipes and railings. She groaned, the impacts causing her systems to glitch.

N landed and set Tessa down gently. Tessa began to instruct their next actions but N looked up and started shouting for Ari. After a few minutes of yelling and complaining a faint voice could be heard. Ari's screaming came into earshot as she was plummeting down to them. "AHHHHHH- UMP!" She landed on a pipe and slid off, her screaming continued as she hit more pipes. 'CLANK' she groaned and her visor glitched again. The impact of the random railing that hit her face really messed with her systems. She finally hit a pipe and slid off, hitting the floor. Her body and wings mangled and beaten up. She weakly held her thumb up, looking up and smiling painfully. "Thanks for the help." She let her head and hand fall with a clank.

Tessa handed a pair of keys to J. "You can go watch the ship, J!" J smiled and took the keys while mumbling under her breath. "Yeah, I'll go babysit while you have fun." J flew off and V and Uzi watched, unamused as N panicked and ran over to Ari's aid. "You have wings you know." V said harshly, in response, Ari lifted a wing up. "It broke when I dodged N, Thank you very much." N was lifting her up while apologizing frantically. Ari smiled and waved a hand, dismissing his apologies. "You're fine N. I promise." She covered her mouth with that same hand and coughed. Some oil splattered onto her hand and she ignored it. She looked at N, he was leaning her against the nearest pillar while trying to make sure she was okay. Her limp wings dragging as he positioned her against the wall. With the last bit of energy she felt she had after the previous adrenaline rushes she tried getting his attention.

Calling his name a few times didn't get his attention, he couldn't hear her over himself. His eyes were darting back and forth as he tried to help Ari. He was lifting her arms up and leaning her forward to see her back and pulled her wings out fully to see the damage on them. Her legs and arms were dented and scratched and one of her wings was almost completely destroyed. "You're gonna be okay. It'll be fine." He tried to reassure whoever it would widen eyed. He didn't think he would be okay. Ari's injury after Prom still wasn't fully healing so how on earth would she heal from this? He should have set Tessa down and helped her sooner. "N?!" His thoughts were broken and all his attention immediately went to Ari. He looked into her eyes. She looked exhausted and tired. "N, I will be alright." She looked over at V, Uzi, and Tessa who were discussing a plan. "Go with them, I will be fine here-" his eyes widened with worry. "NO! I- We can't leave you Ari." She closed her eyes and gritted her teeth. N grabbed her hand seeing she was hurting. "N. You have to. I promise I will find you guys when I heal."

She pleaded with her eyes. Hoping he would change his mind and do what she was asking. But there was still that longing for him to say no, to stay with her anyway. Truly, she wanted him to stay, to keep her company in the darkness. He didn't know what to say, the others might need him but so does Ari. And how would she find them IF she did end up healing? "But, how will you find us?" Ari looked away, she didn't think her plan through that far. "Good point." "Hey! Is Ari alright to go with us now?" Uzi asked as she headed over to them. "Oh. Urm. You don't look to good." Ari's visor glitched and she winced in pain. "Y-you think?" Ari retorted. She sighed and figured she would have to stay and heal, and N probably needed to go. "If I stay-y. How will I find you when I heal?" N frowned, she couldn't go... yet. Uzi stood up from crouching with N and folded her arms. "Good question." V's head turned around from whatever she was looking at and she started making her way over to them.

"Huh? A way to find us? I have a phone I guess." "But don't we need two for that to work then?" Ari questioned. V put her hands on her hips. "Yeah, that makes sense." Everyone sat silently as they tried to come up with a plan. Tessa was wandering around not too far away with a flashlight. "Ah! Here we go!" She put her flashlight away and reached over a desk. She stood back up and walked in thier direction after fiddling with something. She tossed something to the side and then reached them. "Walkie Talkies!" Everyone eyed her, interested. She shook one and then the other and then handed one to Ari. "Use this!" Ari inspected the 'Walkie Talkie' in her hand and then looked back up at Tessa. "I want N to have the other one." Tessa tossed it to N, keeping her 'eyes' on Ari, in her oddly cheerful accent. "If you say so!" N caught it and looked back to Ari worried, as he held the Walkie Talkie.

"I will only use it when I have to, I promise." Ari reassured. N was about to say something before Tessa interrupted him. "Alright! Let's get a move on shall we?" He stood up and everyone started to walk away. Uzi turned around and wanted to speak to her before they left. "Stay safe, okay Ari?" She seemed genuinely concerned. Ari nodded. "I will try." She watched as N and the others walked down a hallway and then looked up and decided where to turn. Regretting letting N go, even though it was for the best, she watched him turn around before he disappeared with the other. She could barely see his worried smile as she gave him a thumbs up. Then, she was left in silence. She sat alone, and was afraid to power off in this unknown place. She sat the Walkie Talkie down next to her and sat up, to discourage the want to sleep. However after some time she caught herself slumping over and shuddered, trying to shake away the drowsiness.

She caught herself slumping over again and hit herself on the face to try and wake herself up. She slapped herself a few more times before crossing her arms and waiting. What seemed like forever she started to doze off again and woke up to the thud, she opened her eyes to the ground in her face and scolded herself as she sat up once more. "Stay awake dumb ass." To busy herself she tried to see the state of her injuries. She twisted her self to see her back, despite the immense pain from her core and then pulled her broken wing infront of her. The blades were bent and broken, some completely broken off. Oil dripped from some of them. She saw a low glowing light and looked to its source. Some dents and scratches on her arm were being healed. She sighed and leaned back up against the wall. She began to doze off and this time, she wouldn't catch herself.

Her vision wad blurred and she wasn't fully awake when she saw eyes looking at her. She closed her eyes for what felt like a few seconds and when they were open again she felt something heavy on her Visor. Feeling drowsy she managed to open an eye and saw the floor moving. She felt her foot being dragged and looked up to see... antlers? The Drowsiness caught up to her and she fell limp back into the darkness of her mind. Her system offered her a dream of the past, and she agreed to watch it.

She opened her eyes and heard birds chirping. The atmosphere was full of the laughter from a very young child and the calming warmth of the sun. She was being twirled in a circle, her the and young girls dresses twirling in mesmerizing arrays. They were outside in a very well kept garden, the various colors of different flowers and trees, gave the garden some warmth. The little girl's facial features were unclear and Ari squinted and leaned forward a little. The two stopped twirling and the girl cupped hands over her mouth to whisper to Ari. Ari bent over and the girl began to reveal her apparent secret. "Ari~" she whispers ominously. There was a long pause and she repeated it louder, "wha-" she turned to the girl but she was now in Ari's face with a huge smile, towering over her. The once comforting and inviting garden was now dead and filled with prickly thorns. Lightning struck and her name was called again, but it wasn't from the girl.

"ARI?!" She gasped as she opened her eyes. Yanking her arms up, only to be stopped by restraints. "Huh?" She looked to the voice calling her name. "Uzi?!" Uzi looked worried and scared, something really bad must be happening. "Uzi, what's going on?!" Uzi's mouth opened to answer her question but it was interrupted by a low and hoarse laugh. "What are you surface slickers doing down here?" The drone spoke. A drone with dark orange eyes and... antlers on her head. The drone turned to Uzi with a pair of pliers in her hand. "You're Nori's kid." Uzi was taken back by the comment and so was Ari. "You knew my mom? Was she cool?!" Uzi asked, Ari was surprised that this random drone knew that kind of stuff, she seemed so isolated down here. The drone ignored Uzi's questions and rolled over to her with the pliers in her hand.

This took sooooooooo long to write, I hope it doesn't disappoint. There are so many points in the story I was give u a cliff hanger on before this, enjoyyyy!
