My eyes were staring down the barrel of a gun, fear quaking my heart. Sweat poured profusely down my face. The look in my twin's eyes was frightening. Revenge was sweet for a lot of people. For Kain, it wasn't enough. I could let him hit me to get even. That wouldn't suffice. He wouldn't be satisfied until I was buried six feet in the ground with our grandmother. "Kain, listen. It's been a long night. I was drunk" I pled my case to him. His face never changed, not even a single blink over a span of two minutes. "You told me to go get my gun, right?" He cocked the hammer back threateningly and then wore a cheeky grin. "Well, I did what I was told, twin"
"Kain, you're not listening-" A single boom followed by a searing pain in the center of my forehead knocked me off my feet. I grabbed my forehead and wriggled on the floor in agony only for a second. It all faded like nothing ever happened. The headache from hell went away and I was still alive from a fatal headshot. Pulling my hand off of what should've been the entry wound, my palm was clean. No blood. "What the fuck?"
Kain's boisterous laughter echoed through the white room we were trapped in. I sat up on my elbows, turning towards him. He was crouched over laughing so hard that tears were in his eyes. "You should've saw your face" He waved the gun at me loosely then tapped it on his thigh as he continued to have a great laugh at my expense. I wished I could've understood the joke, but instead, I was irritated. "You shot me in the head and I didn't die or bleed. What the fuck is this place? Purgatory? Hell?"
His laughter finally stopped. "You acting very slow tonight. That headbutt really fucked you up" An awkward pause came before he gestured towards the television displaying the real world. "Do you not see yourself lying there? If you were dead, you wouldn't be seeing that and you wouldn't be seeing me" Standing up, I walked closer to the large screen and stared at myself. The real world me was lying on a couch with Giza by my side. Lesane was administering an IV while one of his minions was doping me up. "What are they doing to me?"
"The standard concussion protocol, I assume. The IV is to make sure you don't get dehydrated and the little fella with the syringe is giving you pain meds to ease the headache you have. All you can do is sleep it off" I nodded my head slowly in understanding. My eyes studied Giza. Her knees were brought to her chest, arms wrapped around her legs. She had puffy eyes from crying so much and still just a bra and pants on. I placed my hand over her then saw Lesane's mouth moving and started to panic. "Is there any way I can hear what they're saying out there?"
Kain stared at me in silence then with a snap of his fingers, the volume cut on.
"Why are you crying over this nigga, Diamond?" Lesane asked with disgust written on his face. "Look at the way he got you already. You wearing a bra and pants like a slut. You gave the pussy up to this nigga already?"
"Wake me up" I turned swiftly towards Kain. "Whatever you are. God, Kain, Satan, whatever. Wake me the fuck up. Concussion or not. I'm a beat this nigga's ass" Kain snickered, shrugging coolly. "That's not how this works" Giza interrupted our conversation, earning my full attention.
