The Searchers:
A tunnel is an underground passageway, dug through surrounding soil, earth or rock, and enclosed except for the entrance and exit, commonly at each end.
"It's like constantly being on 'high alert' and looking for an escape route from a monster, only the monster is inside you."
A story is a written piece of art meant to do all sorts of things, like entertain, teach or warn their readers. There is one out there. A story that isn't over. A story that is still being told. A story that we all have a part to play in. It is one of faith, hope and love. It is one of pain, sacrifice and death. Indeed, there is hope for a tree. If it's cut down and still sprouting and its shoots don't fail, if its roots age in the ground and its stump dies in the dust, at the scent of water, it will bud and produce sprouts like a plant. But a human dies and lies there; a person expires, and where are they? Water vanishes from the sea; soon the rain shall fill it once more. But a human lies down and doesn't rise; they don't get up and awaken from sleep.
Brahms Lullaby:
'Tis night is somber, and the woman sways a little baby girl in her arms, telling her a goodnight story. "Once upon a time, there was a majestic king, who lived with his noble brother in a colorful kingdom where music and art were celebrated."
She starts off in a soothing voice.
"The king did not foresee having a child. But he lived in an enchanted land where all things were possible. In time, he was blessed with a beautiful baby daughter. For whom he wished only peace and happiness."
The woman makes a short pause to smile at the infant suckling on its small thumb.
"Still, the king had demons who pursued him." She continued, the smiles fading slightly from her lips. "Wicked sorceresses and brutal beasts sought the death of his baby daughter, armed with prophecies that the princess would bring about chaos."
The child coos and so the woman pauses before taking a breath to continue. "Only the king and his knights knew about the existence of an enchanted fairy, that was still asleep in the faraway lands. Seeing the shadow his enemies cast upon his home, the king was driven to send his beloved princess away. Convincing all who remained that she was forever lost."
The woman steps up to the baby cradle and her voice gets quieter.
"The king, in his sorrow, turned away from the world. The castle closed its doors and the kingdom fell." She almost whispers.
"Some say that the only light that shines in the castle illuminates the shadow of the once mighty king in the room meant for his child. But as the ruthless beasts took rule over the fallen king's realm, little did they know that he and his brother would not rest until their enemies were vanquished."
