It was clear frosty weather, and as the moon came up over the Northern peaks. I could see the patches of snow over the mountain peaks .I would have been quite happy in bed, with a book and a cup of coffee at my side , but unfortunately I'd promised my friend that I would go to his party, and I felt it would be childish not to go. I put on my sweater and an Overcoat and set down the moonlit road.
She must have been sixteen or seventeen. She looked rather old fashioned. When I went closer, I noticed she had lovely eyes and a winning smile.
Good evening, I said. It's a cold night to be out. Are you going to the party? She asked.
That's right. And I can see from your lovely dress that you are too, come along, we are nearly there.
She followed beside me, She told me her name was Katniss. I hadn't seen her before but, I'd only been in hill station a few months.
There was quite some crowd at the party, and no one seemed to know   Katniss. Everyone thought she was a friend of mine I did not deny it. Obviously she was someone who was feeling lonely and wanted to be friendly with people. And she was certainly enjoying herself. I did not see her eating or drinking much but she was talking, listening, and laughing with almost everyone.
It was almost 1'o clock when I got up to go. I had drunk a fair amount and I was ready for bed. As I was saying goodbye to my friend, Katniss slipped her arm into mine and said she would be going home too. When we were outside I said, where do you live, Katniss? At the top of the hill she said, There's a cold wind I said. And although your dress is beautiful, it doesn't look very warm. Here you better wear my Overcoat. Cold doesn't affect me much I said laughing slightly.
She did not protest, and allowed me to slip my Overcoat over her shoulders. Then we started the walk home together. At about the same spot we met, she said, there is a short cut from here. I'll just go up the hillside. Do you know it well I asked, it's a very narrow path.
Oh I know every stone on the path. I use it all the time. Well keep the coat on I said.
She hesitated for a moment, then smiled and nodded. She then disappeared up the hill and I went home alone.
The next morning I woke up in my bed with the book lying on my face and an empty coffee cup on my bed side table, realising I smiled as I went on my day.
