Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months. What started as a casual exchange between Jennie and V had now blossomed into a deep, unbreakable friendship. From strangers who barely knew each other beyond polite greetings, they had grown into best friends, confiding in one another about everything.

Despite their packed schedules, award shows, and fleeting moments in the limelight, their Kakao chats became their private escape. It didn’t matter how chaotic things got. Between performances, fan meetings, and the whirlwind of fame, their conversations were a safe space—untouched by the pressures of the industry. They shared everything—secrets about company dealings, the highs and lows of handling fans, and the quirks and stories about their friends.

But beyond the surface-level talk, they began opening up about their personal lives—the challenges of balancing their careers, the insecurities they hid behind their smiles, and even their hopes for the future. There was an unspoken understanding between them, a bond that felt different from all the friendships they had in the public eye.

Though they only saw each other a few times at award shows or industry events, those brief encounters always felt like more than enough. Their connection wasn’t built on the time spent together, but on the honesty and trust they nurtured through countless messages.

With each passing day, their friendship grew stronger—a quiet, steady presence in the background of their busy lives, something neither of them expected but both of them cherished deeply.

"Finally, we got a break! We’ve been doing concerts every day," Taehyung exclaimed, relief evident in his voice. "I’m so happy that I didn’t mess up anything."

Jennie smiled at his enthusiasm. "Yes, congrats on completing your tour! I just wish I could have watched it live."

"Exactly! I’m so upset with you. My one and only best friend wasn’t there," Taehyung pouted playfully.

"I told you! We’re really busy with our world tour too. Our days are packed—wake up, dance practice, vocal practice, recording, dance practice, and then sleep. Plus, our manager doesn’t allow us to have our phones during practice," Jennie replied, trying to convey the hectic schedule.

"Relax, Jennie! I was just kidding. I know you guys are busy. By the way, congrats on your single! It was a hit! Honestly, I can’t stop listening to it," Taehyung said, genuinely happy for her.

"Thanks! Anyway, how’s your prep for the world tour going? Are you excited?" he asked, shifting the focus back to him.

Jennie took a deep breath, reflecting on the long hours of preparation. "I already told you, it’s very tiring, but I know it will all be worth it. After all, our fans have been waiting for so long, and we have to give our best."

"I like that spirit!" Taehyung encouraged. Then, after a moment of hesitation, Jennie continued, "Actually, I have to tell you something."

"Yeah, I’m listening. Carry on," he said, curious.

"I am actually... actually, I’m dating someone," Jennie revealed, her heart racing.

As Jennie's words hung in the air, Taehyung felt a jolt of surprise ripple through him. "I am dating someone," she had said so casually, yet the weight of those words hit him like a ton of bricks. A sudden pang of jealousy twisted in his chest, catching him off guard.

He had always considered Jennie his closest confidante, someone with whom he shared his thoughts, dreams, and fears. But now, hearing her declare that she was dating someone else felt like losing a part of himself. The image of her laughing with another guy, someone who wasn't him, flitted through his mind uninvited.

Questions raced through his head—Who was this guy? Did he treat her well? Did he make her laugh the way Taehyung always tried to? A mix of emotions flooded him: happiness for her, yet a bitter sting of longing. He wanted nothing more than for her to be happy, but that desire was clouded by the realization that someone else would now be the one to share those intimate moments they used to discuss late into the night.

"Who are you dating?" he had blurted out, trying to mask the turmoil brewing inside him. He could hear his heart pounding in his ears, the sudden weight of unspoken feelings crashing down around him. Taehyung realized that this friendship, so precious and vital, was now teetering on the edge of something he never wanted to confront—his feelings for Jennie.

" It's Kai from Exo " she said

As she revealed that it was Kai from EXO, he couldn’t shake off the tightness in his chest. How long has she been keeping this from me? he thought, feeling an ache deepened within him. The playful banter they had shared now felt different, tinged with an unnameable sadness.

"Be careful," he urged, his voice laced with genuine concern but also a tinge of possessiveness that he couldn't quite suppress. He knew he should be supportive, but all he could think was how much he wished it could have been him.

"I know. I will take care. Thank you for understanding. I knew you would," she replied, appreciating his support.

"Our manager is calling. Gotta go. Take care," she said, her heart still racing from the conversation.

"Okay... take care," Taehyung replied, a mix of emotions swirling inside him as he ended the call.

"I remember when she said she was dating someone new. Jealousy twisted in my heart, a painful reminder of what we once had."
