Evelyn's POV:

"Adams: you're with Grey. Millin: you're with me. Kwan: you're covering Dr. Shepherd's post-ops. Griffith: you're with Altman. Yasuda and Bowers: you're covering the pit," Dr. Bailey, our residency director, ordered.

This is our second week at Grey Sloan, and we are finally *somewhat* off of scut duty and are venturing off into shadowing doctors. Well, so far I've been on Dr. Webber's service once, and it seems as though I'm residing on covering the pit this week. While Yasuda turned to roll her eyes at me as soon as Dr. Bailey gave us our assignments, I actually don't mind working in the ER: suturing up wounds, bracing digits, and running labs. It helps to clear my head.

"Well, don't just stand there staring at each other! Move!" Bailey ordered.

All of us scattered in different directions, with Mika and I heading over to the ER. Out of all of the interns in my class, she's the only one I've really clicked with so far. We met at our intern mixer when I helped her down from the table she was dancing on. After all, that's what I'd want someone to do for me. I'd be absolutely mortified.

We hit it off that night, and while I didn't think she would've remembered any of it, I was pleasantly surprised.

"You know what? I'm so tired of the little boys club over there," Mika complained. "I mean, we're on day 2 of grunt work while Adams and Kwan get to work with Grey and Shepherd."

"I mean at least Kwan is only covering post ops. It's not like he gets to scrub in on anything," I winked.

"Why the hell are you defending him? He calls you pipsqueak!" She exclaimed.

"This is true," I laughed, painfully recalling last Friday night when he caught me pulling out my fake ID at Joe's. While I typically avoid breaking the law, I don't like to call attention to the fact that I'm multiple years younger than all of my peers.

As we entered the ER, I could already tell it was about to be a long day. Why, you might ask? Well, it was quiet. And if you've ever worked in a medical setting, quiet is practically a death sentence.

"Well shit, Ev," Yasuda laughed.

I rolled my eyes at her, walking over to grab one of the few charts left on the desk, when the familiar sound of sirens spread through the room.

"Yasuda, Bowers, all hands on deck!" Dr. Hunt called as he pulled a trauma gown over his head.

"Didn't even know he knew our names!" I laughed, pulling on the yellow cover and racing Yasuda to the double doors.

As the paramedic pulled open the doors to the rig, Dr. Shepherd rushed through the doors and readied herself to lower the patient opposite her.

"What do we have?" Dr. Shepherd asked urgently.

"35 year old unconscious female– car crash victim, suffered significant head trauma and multiple lacerations to the face and torso. Heart rate 88 bpm, BP 140/90," she announced as another ambulance pulled into the lot.

"That must be the driver," Dr. Hunt announced as he looked over. "Yasuda, come with me. Bowers, stay with Shepherd."

"Alright!" Dr. Shepherd affirmed as we lowered the patient to the ground. "Let's move!"

"Nice to finally work with you Dr. Bowers," Dr. Shepherd said as we pulled into the trauma bay.

"The pleasure is mine," I replied, trying to hide my smirk. I really was thrilled to finally be working with her. I'm not sure what specialty I'm most interested in, but it's been a dream of mine to work with her ever since she operated on Dr. Herman.
