prompt : "don't say you love me"
type: poetic story
Don't say you love me. Don't you dare. Not when I can't feel you. Not when I can't touch you. Not when you're so far away I can't even feel your breath.
Don't say you love me when you can't see me. Don't say it, don't you even think it.
Don't say you love me because I love you more. Because I can't tell you there are no words to describe what I feel. What I can't say.
Don't say you love me when I'm too far gone. Please. Don't say it when you're all alone and crying on the ground.
Don't say you love me while grass stains your coat. While the rain pours down and the flowers are drenched.
Don't say you love me when I can't ever see you again. My love. Please. Don't you dare. Not now, not again.
Don't say you love me because it's breaking me.
Don't say you love me when you are lying awake each night.
Don't say you love me because I can't hold you while you cry. Because you deserve to laugh, for tears of joy to stream down your face. Not this. Never this.
Don't say you love me because I don't deserve it. Because no one you love should leave.
Don't say you love me because I will watch you grow old while I am forever young. Because when you see me again you will have forgotten my voice while yours is still the light I follow. Don't say you love me when you're kneeling before the headstone, alone, in the rain, the flowers falling and the grass staining.
Don't say you love me.
