i stare out into the road as we pull up to the families beautiful home. i move my red dresses ribbon around my fingers anxiously staring at the big house. knowing who's inside in the back of my head.. i watch as my parents carefully pull into the driveway. don't get me wrong i LOVE christmas but i cannot stand jay, he is so aggravating. always acting like the center of attention. i guess those kinds of men just aren't for me. i look at the decorated house with a sparkle glowing into my eyes of excitement. i love the way his family decorates, its so beautiful. if we had half the money they did i'm sure wed do the same.
i step out of the car and start walking up, already dreading seeing his face. he is the epitome of an attention whore. i stand behind my parents as they ring the houses doorbell. the dim lit outside and snow looked absolutely mesmerizing, i watch as his parents come to the door, greet my parents, and then greet me. they tell me their son is upstairs probably playing a game and where the food and drinks are and i smile endearingly at them. they've always been like my aunt and uncle to me. i walk through the house to the bathroom to check how i look. i walk in and stare at the way this wine red dress suffocated my body, the way it clings to me like sad teenage girls cling to jeff buckley. i stare at the things i like and don't like about myself.
i walk out of the bathroom and avoid as many people as possible. social events like this aren't my forte. i walk up the stairs halfway and sit down, almost hiding. i wish to feel completely invisible like a ghost walking around, completely and utterly unseen. suddenly i hear a door open and i see jay walk out, "hello?" i suddenly realize how awkward i must look just sitting on the stairs. "hello jay" i say softly. "y/n? you look different" he remarks. "thank you i guess" i respond. "so what are you doing just.. sitting here?" "staying away from the chaos i suppose" "hm interesting.. well i'm going straight into the fire so.. if you could get out of my way id appreciate it, doll." i stare up at him already aggravated and scoot over to let him through.
schlatt goes downstairs and shows off...
