As Team RWBY and Team JNPR investigated the bells, the two teams kept their guard up for any Grimm that may be flocking to the where the bells are being rung. It wasn't long before the sound of more bells could be heard. The sound of the thirteen bell tolls was almost deafening to the two teams.
Yang: Man someone really needs to tone down on those bells!
Weiss: At this rate, every Grimm in Mountain Glenn will be on us!
Pyrrha: Then we better hurry!
As Team RWBY and Team JNPR navigated through the barren streets of Mountain Glenn, they didn't realize that they were being stalked from the shadows by Night Runners from Clan Eshin. When the two teams turned a corner into the next street, Blake heard a faint sound in the distance. Blake quickly turned around and surveyed the immediate area. She couldn't see the Night Runners who were hiding in the shadows. Despite not being able to see them, Blake's instincts told her something was there. For a brief moment, Blake thought she saw a pair or two of beady red eyes from the shadows. When Blake blinked, she saw nothing. It wasn't long before Yang tapped Blake's shoulders.
Yang: Blake?
Blake fell silent for a moment as she tried looking for what lurked in the shadows. After a moment, Blake took a deep breath.
Blake: I'm okay. Let's keep going.
With that, Team RWBY and Team JNPR moved forward as they navigated through the desolate streets of Mountain Glenn. As they moved through the streets of Mountain Glenn, Team RWBY and Team JNPR decided to rest up inside an abandoned building. Once inside, the two teams took a moment to rest.
Jaune: Weird that we're not seeing any Grimm yet.
Ren: Yes....it does seem odd that we haven't run into any Grimm, especially with those bells.
Weiss: Perhaps the Grimm are flocking from the other side of the city. The Grimm are fairly scattered across this area.
Blake said nothing as she pondered on her instincts. It didn't take long for everyone else to notice that something was wrong with Blake.
Ruby: Are you okay, Blake? You've been pretty quiet.
Blake: I....I don't know. Something about all of this is out of place.
Yang: How do you figure?
Blake: Maybe....maybe I'm just being paranoid, but I feel like we're being watched.
Weiss: Watched by who?
Blake paused as she tried to come up with an answer. After a few moments of uneasy silence, Blake once more took a deep breath.
Blake: I don't know. That's what worries me.
Jaune: That's....that's concerning....
Blake: Like I said, maybe I'm just being paranoid.
Pyrrha: Regardless, we should probably keep our guards up. Mountain Glenn has already proven to be quite a den for anyone who doesn't want to be found.
At this point, it was clear to everyone that something was out of place. Suddenly, roaring was heard in the distance. Everyone looked outside and saw a pack of Grimm migrating towards the city. But as the two teams observed the movement of the Grimm, Blake glances towards some of the buildings. To Blake's shock, she could see shadowy figures seemingly scurrying across the buildings. She pointed this to the rest of the group.
Nora: What the heck is that?
Pyrrha: I....I don't know. Maybe they could be Grimm?
Ruby: Blake? Can you make out what's out there?
Blake: I....I don't know. I can't tell from here.
Jaune: Whatever they are, I'm sure glad they're nowhere near us....
Blake's enhanced eyesight allowed her to keep track of the shapes scurrying across the buildings. Despite not being able to make out what they were, it was clear that they weren't Human. Suddenly, the bells rang once more. The building itself shook from the echoes of the 13 chimes from the bells.
Yang: This whole bell thing is getting real old!
Nora: Tell me about it! I'm gonna break their legs so badly!
Pyrrha: We shouldn't rush it without knowing what we're dealing with. And besides, we've gone through a whole day without rest.
Ren: Is it really wise to rest when we're deep in Grimm territory?
Pyrrha looked around the building they were in. She gets up and moves a dresser against a door. She then proceeds to barricade some of the other points of entry.
Pyrrha: We'll take turns keeping watch. We'll go first.
Ruby: You guys sleep first. We'll take the first watch.
Jaune: You sure, Ruby? We'll be happy to....
Ruby: It's fine, Jaune. Get some sleep. We'll wake you up when we get tired.
With that, Team JNPR began to go to sleep while Team RWBY kept watch. At this point, Blake took a deep breath.
Yang: You okay, Blake? You look spooked.
Blake: I'm....I'm fine, Blake. I'm just a little restless. That's all.
Weiss: Those....things out there. Were they the ones you saw earlier?
Blake: I'm....I'm not sure.
Ruby: We'll keep an eye out and make sure nothing gets the drop on us. We'll probably keep watch for a few hours and then let Team JNPR take over. Then we'll go from there.
With that, Team RWBY and Team JNPR settled into the building for the night. Despite Ruby's reassurance, Blake was still deeply troubled by what she saw and what she didn't see. But as they rested, the Night Runners from Clan Eshin snuck inside the building. One of the Night Runners gestured another to leave. In that moment, Team RWBY and Team JNPR were about to have their first encounter with the Skaven.
