Y/N stood still, her gaze locked on Taehyung as he strode toward her, his expression a mask of composure but his eyes revealing a hint of underlying tension. Jungkook was still beside her, his hand loosely holding hers, though he didn’t seem particularly concerned by Taehyung’s sudden appearance. He just watched, amusement flickering in his dark eyes.

“Taehyung?” Y/N asked calmly, her voice neutral as she studied him. There was no surprise or apprehension in her tone, only curiosity. “What are you doing here?”

Taehyung stopped a few feet in front of her, his gaze drifting between Y/N and Jungkook’s clasped hands before landing back on her face. His jaw tightened slightly, but he kept his voice steady.

“Your driver called your father,he was out of states so he informed me .” he explained, his tone holding a slight edge.

“He said you disappeared down an alleyway, and then… he heard gunshots.”

Y/N blinked, her brows knitting slightly as if processing his words. Then, slowly, she pulled her hand out of Jungkook’s grasp and crossed her arms over her chest.

“And that warranted you showing up?” she asked, tilting her head slightly to the side.

Taehyung’s eyes narrowed. “You know it’s not safe out here, Y/N. Not when you’re alone.”

She sighed softly, shaking her head. “I’m not alone, Taehyung,” she replied, her gaze drifting back to Jungkook, who was now leaning casually against the wall, looking entirely unbothered by the conversation.

“But even if I was, I can handle myself. There’s no need for you to get involved.”

“Is that so?” Taehyung asked, his voice dropping a notch lower.

“I’m only here because I was concerned. You disappearing like that, then hearing gunshots—” He paused, his gaze hardening slightly. “What am I supposed to think?”

“That I’m not your responsibility,” she responded evenly.

“But it’s fine. I’ll take note not to go anywhere that might alarm you.” She offered him a polite smile, as if she were talking to a casual acquaintance rather than the man she was supposed to marry.

Taehyung’s gaze darkened at her indifferent response.

“It’s not about control, Y/N,” he murmured, his tone softer now. “I’m just… I don’t want you to get hurt.”

Y/N’s eyes softened a fraction, but she quickly masked it with a calm, composed expression.

“I appreciate the concern, Taehyung,” she said, her voice gentler.

“But I’m perfectly fine.” Her gaze flickered back to Jungkook briefly. “And as you can see, I wasn’t exactly alone.”

Jungkook, catching her gaze, offered a small smile.

“She was in good hands, don’t worry,” he said lightly, his tone almost teasing as he met Taehyung’s gaze with an unflinching look.

“But it’s sweet of you to rush over.”

Taehyung’s lips pressed into a thin line, but he didn’t rise to the bait. Instead, he turned back to Y/N.

“Can we go?” he asked quietly, his tone more of  a demand. “I’ll drive you home.”

Y/N hesitated for a moment, glancing between the two men. She finally nodded, pushing down the strange twinge of tension that settled in her chest.

“Sure,” she agreed calmly. She turned to Jungkook.giving him a last Stare as he winked at her.
