I walked into my room to get cleaned up. I showered and brushed my hair and teeth. Then it was the dilemma of what to where. I decided on my black skinny jeans, black converse, and my Falling in Reverse t-shirt.
"I'm heading out Mom!" I called grabbing my bag and keys.
"Have a great birthday sweetheart!"
I slipped into my truck and was startled by a knock on my passenger window.
There was a devastatingly handsome boy with blonde hair and blues standing in front of my window.
I rolled the window down and looked at him expectantly.
"Uh, hi. My name is Niall. I just moved in next door, and I needed a ride to school. Do you go to Jefferson high?"
After regaining my voice I responded, "Uh yeah, yeah I do. Would you like a ride?"
"That'd be great, thanks."
I unlocked the door and Niall got in on the passenger side. Then I noticed the tattoos. He had full sleeves, all black and white.
"Thanks. I uh, I have no idea where I'm going." Niall chuckled timidly. He seemed to sweet to have all those tattoos.
"Don't worry about it. I'll just consider it my good deed for the day." I smiled at him. Niall blushed and looked out the window.
"Okay I'm just gonna say this now," I started ,"You don't seem like the type of person to have full sleeves of tattoos." He rubbed his arms self-consciously, then met my gaze.
"Well," he said while tracing his tattoos, "I just appreciate the artwork, and it all has meaning to me." Niall pointed to a tattoo of three silhouettes of birds encircling his wrist.
"These birds are representing my mom, my dad, and I. All together high in the sky, untouched by the problems of the world." Niall smiled while tracing the birds with his finger.
It took me a moment to regain my voice.
"Wow. That's beautiful Niall."
"Thanks."
We spent the rest of the ride quietly humming along to the songs on the radio. He seemed to know all of the Falling in Reverse songs that played and even A Day to Remember's "My Life for Hire" and "If it Means A Lot to You". I must admit I was pleasantly surprised.
Jefferson High pulled into view and I sighed, earning a sideways glance from Niall.
"Do you not like school?" he asked sweetly.
Niall is just way too nice.
"Well it's not that I don't like the school." I answered while pulling into a parking spot.
"What don't you like?"
I sighed again. "I just don't have any friends my age, and..."
"And..?" He pushed in a soft voice.
"People aren't exactly nice to me here."
I struggled to keep from letting the tears leave my eyes. Of course Niall noticed. Great, I'm crying in front of this super sweet and attractive new boy who hasn't yet been corrupted by everyone else in this damn school.
Niall hopped out of the truck without another word. Of course he didn't care. No one really did. I stared at my lap as the warm tears rolled down my cheeks.
Then my driver door opened and Niall put his arms around me. I was shocked for a second then I returned his hug. He pulled back and gently wiped the tears from my cheeks with his thumb.
"Its okay. Don't cry. I'll be your friend." he smiled, "There's just one issue."
"What's that?" I sniffed with a smile on my face.
"I don't know your name."
I realized I really hadn't told him my name.
"Uh, Audrey. My name's Audrey."
"Well let's go them Audrey." Niall smiled and linked his arm with mine as we entered the building.
