Confessions and Sandwiches

I was pulled out of my daze when my phone chimed once more to find it lit up with another text message

From Corey specifically.

It's been nearly two weeks since Halloween and our kiss and the only thing I've been doing was reacting to her messages.

She's been checking up on me and sending messages about whatever "trip" she assumed I was on.

And I was just hearting and giving them a thumbs up.

Like I said, I've just been busy, it's nothing personal to her.

But I was finally going back to Richwood today for multiple reasons, not just because Corey was there.

And because I finally got my teachers off of my back for being absent with out my parents being informed.

"Who's texting you?" My mom questioned as she past me in the kitchen.

I bagged up the third sandwich that I made to drop off to Chanel and Myles, "My friend," I replied, not really knowing what to say.

We were friends.

So that technically wasn't a lie.

"They obviously want to talk to you," my dad chimed in, grabbing the coffee jug from beside me.

I stuffed the sandwiches in my backpack, "I know it's just—I'm busy right now," I replied harshly zipping it closed.

I irritatedly flung my backpack over my shoulder before opening the fridge and grabbing my water bottle.

And when I closed the fridge door and turned around both of my parents eyes were on me as they remained still in their places.

"I have a lot going on," I explained before walking out the kitchen and to the front door, "See you guys later." I added before leaving completely.

I don't know why but it felt like the whole world was against me right now.

I was just super stressed out.

And the second I left the door I saw Chanel and Myles in the familiar jeep that I undeniably missed.

I didn't have a problem with walking to school with them.

It's just that I don't want to do it everyday.

"You got the goods?" Myles asked from the back seat as I closed the car door behind me.

I plopped my backpack on my lap before zipping it open, "Three meats provolone," I said handing him the sandwich, "And majority lettuce." I said handing the sandwich to Chanel.

"Thank you, I was indeed looking forward to this," Myles said from behind me, as Chanel began driving.

"Right, thank you." Chanel added.

"Yeah, I almost got in trouble while making these," I said sarcastically as we strolled down the street.

Chanel glanced over to me, "Why?" she questioned before placing her attention back on the road.

I shrugged, "It's nothing just Corey related stuff," I said, and almost immediately after I realized I slipped up.

Really bad.

"What's going on with you and Corey...?" Chanel trailed off the second I took my attention off of her.

I furrowed my brows, "Nothing." I quickly replied trying to hide the fact that anything could be happening.

Cause nothing is happening.

"Don't try and cover it up now, what's happening?" Chanel said pulling the car over completely.
