"A Woman's Worst Nightmare"

Those eyes.

Just as stunning and beautiful as the first time I laid my eyes on them.

But this time around, they carried no wonder.

Only fear and doubt.

"We need help here!" Amado's desperate shout cut through the room, breaking their gaze. The two, along with the entire medical team, snapped their attention to him.

"Let's divide into two groups. Dr. Garcia, Nurse Yna, and Dr. Santino, focus on this patient. The rest of you—Nurse Ji Ho, Nurse Innessa, and Dr. Alcazar—assess the children," Dr. Mendez instructed firmly.

Everyone sprang into action, directing their complete attention to the patients.

It felt as if they had pushed aside the fear and anxiety that had escalated through them when they saw the two men covered in blood.

For now, their priority was set straight: tending to the children and those in need of help comes first.

"Out of the way!" muling sigaw ng matanda pabalik, pasan ang dalawa pang bata sa kanyang mga braso.

The group was shocked by how many children were brought in, one after another, but they stood their ground and accepted them, nonetheless.

Dr. Alcazar rapidly lifted the shirt of the first child, performing series of assessments to identify and verify the source of her pain.

Rovsing's, Dunphy's, and McBurney's sign (appendicitis physical examinations) were performed, all came out negative.

Pelvic exam for potential UTI (urinary tract infection), negative.

All sorts of physical examinations, ay naisagawa na nila, ngunit lahat ng resulta ay negatibo at walang kaugnayan sa sakit na nararamdaman ng mga ito.

They had exhausted all options for diagnosing the child's pain. Yet, they were still struggling to determine its condition.

Until Nurse Ji Ho lifted the child and helped her sit upright, causing her to cry out in pain. Dahilan para magkatinginan ang tatlo; Dr. Alcaraz understood the situation loud and clear, as did Innessa who quickly pulled the curtains closed to provide privacy to the child, and there, they asked for the child's permission to remove her pants, which resulted in a painful scream, this led them to take matters into their own hands.

It's an emergency, and it needs to be done.

Dr. Alcazar quickly yet cautiously undressed the child's lower trousers before examining its genital area with a penlight for a clearer view.

"But y-you're not an OBGYN, D-doc," nag-aalalang sambit ni Ji Ho habang pinapakalma ang bata sa may ulunan nito.

"I know, but I'm a trauma doctor, and I know trauma when I see one, whatever the place is."
