The morning sun poured through the curtains, casting a soft glow around Mae's hotel room. She stretched out, still groggy but with a sense of anticipation bubbling inside her. She grabbed her phone, scrolling through her messages to find Javon's name. Without much thought, she typed out a message.

Mae: morning!!!!! are you free later?? i was thinking we could meet up at the hotel.

A few moments passed before her phone vibrated.

Javon: hey good morning! yeah hi im free. What time?

Mae: how about in an hour? we can meet in the lounge????

Javon: sounds perfect. ill see you there.

Mae felt a flutter in her chest. She hurried to get ready, carefully picking out her outfit. She didn't want to overthink it, but at the same time, she wanted to look good. After fixing her hair and applying some light makeup, she grabbed her crutches and made her way down to the hotel lounge.

When she arrived, she spotted Javon sitting on one of the plush couches, his gaze fixed on his phone. He looked up as soon as he noticed her, smiling warmly as she approached.

"Hey," he greeted, standing up to help her settle onto the couch beside him.

"Hey," she replied with a soft smile, adjusting her crutches before sitting down. For a moment, they just exchanged looks, an unspoken understanding passing between them.

"I'm glad you asked to meet up," Javon said after a pause. "I was hoping we'd get a chance to hang out."

"Me too," Mae said, her voice quieter than she expected. She hesitated for a moment before taking a deep breath, her heart pounding in her chest. She knew she had to say it, even if it made her nervous. "I... I think I kinda like you."

Javon raised an eyebrow, a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. "You think?" he teased, leaning in just a little closer.

Mae's cheeks flushed. "I don't know," she murmured, playing with the hem of her sleeve. "I've never felt like this before."

Javon's expression softened. "Really?"

She nodded timidly. "Yeah... it's new for me."

There was a moment of silence, and then Javon spoke again, his voice steady but warm. "I know that I like you... a lot." He paused, searching her eyes. "I know it's all happening fast, but I'm sure about how I feel. I love you, Mae."

Mae's heart skipped a beat. His words were so sincere, and she could feel the weight of them sinking in. She looked at him, trying to find the right words, but all she could do was smile softly.

"I don't know what to say," she whispered, her voice barely above a breath. "I... didn't expect this."

"You don't have to say anything," Javon reassured her, reaching over to take her hand. His thumb gently brushed over her skin, sending a warm sensation through her. "I just wanted you to know how I feel. I'm not expecting you to say it back. Just... be real with me."

Mae let out a small, shaky laugh. "I am being real. I just—this is all so new to me. But I do like you, Javon. I like you a lot. It's just... overwhelming."

Javon smiled, squeezing her hand a little. "We don't have to rush anything. Let's just see where it goes."

They sat there for a while, talking about their feelings, their fears, and what might come next. It felt easy, despite the intensity of the conversation. Time seemed to slip away until Javon finally glanced at his phone.
