First day at work

I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock as the sun hit my face so did the realisation that it's my first day as a formula one driver but not only was I a driver I am also the first female driver to race in F1, the pinnacle of motorsport.

I jumped out of my bed and to the bathroom to get ready. After getting ready I checked the clock and decided to have a small yet fulfilling breakfast as I had 2 hours at hand. I grabbed some tomatoes, lettuce, carrots, cucumbers and made myself a nice salad and a banana milkshake. As I was returning the dishes to the sink my phone rang and it was my best friend who supported me through all the years of struggle and racing. My ears were filled with a loud scream of excitement as I picked up I felt as if it was her first day as a driver.

"Oh my god yn I can't believe you made it to the top of the sports! So how are you feeling nervous?" Amy asked.

"No...not until you reminded me of the pressure Ams" I replied trying my level best to keep calm as it just hit me that I'm not only a driver but the first female driver and I'm representing myself, my country and all the women in the whole world.

"Well I am heading to the venue directly so I won't be meeting you anytime before the race, try not to get scared and remember you are here because you've got what it takes if someone says otherwise fuck them their opinion doesn't matter" Amy said. I have known her since elementary school, we were in the same class, our houses were just opposite each other, we both shared a passion for racing and cars. She followed her passion and became one of the few successful female journalists in motorsports and I followed mine and became an F1 driver.

We talked for half an hour and then she had to leave. Fun fact...she will be interviewing me after I signed the contract with Red Bull racing today as part of the media duties I am supposed to do.

I decided to leave as I don't trust the traffic although it's very rare I believe you're more likely to get late when you have to be on time. I hopped in my Mercedes and headed to the Red bull headquarters here in London. I should mention that along with being the first women in F1 I will also be the first Indian in F1 so no pressure hehehe *classic nervous laugh*

I arrived 10 minutes early and decided to go and make myself familiar with the place and talk to some people as I was already informally introduced to the team before. As I entered the building I met Christian Honer the team principal of Red Bull. I heard a lot of scary things about him and the team like they have unrealistic expectations from the driver and what they did with Pierre is truly frightening luckily he got another seat I however don't know what will happen if I am dropped too. But surprisingly the team was great but Christian informed me that there are expectations from me and that I must meet up with them.

We had a little chat on our way to the meeting room where I will be signing the contract which will be broadcast on live television. Before the meeting began I was given a Red bull racing shirt and was instructed to wear it. As we entered the meeting room the cameras were flashing right in my eye and Christine whispered in my ear "Get used to this you'll be dealing with this a lot" to which I could only chuckle and say "I have to or else I'll go blind"

As we sat down the voices disappeared along with the flash except a few. The announcer started the conference and cut to the point of signing the contract I read it before and was supposed to just sign it for the show and press. The flashes returned as I picked up my pen to sign and I did. I was officially a Red Bull racing driver, a formula one driver, the first female driver, and the first Indian driver in Formula one history.

We made our way to the press conference room which was bigger than the meeting room from before, it has a stage in the middle with white sofa and a coffee table in the middle with two mics for me and Christine. The conference soon began and the questions started pouring in.

"So y/n how does it feel to be part of Red bull racing?" A reporter asked.

"Well so far great, the team was welcoming, everyone was kind and sweet and I hope I can give the best performance." I replied as I tried to calm my nerves.

"Well this one is for Christian, what made you choose y/n to drive the car what was different about her according to you?" Asked another reporter.

"Well everyone knows that we want the best to race for us and I feel that she is fit for the job and will perform well on track with her experience and knowledge the team can lead to greater achievements" Christian replied and looked at me at the end with a smile.

That was the sweetest thing anybody has told me. I thought to myself hearing such kind words from the Christian Honer really boosted my confidence. After a few dozen questions the conference came to an end and we left the room with cameras still flashing. As we exited I thanked Christian for his kind words and jokes about how I'll take some time to get used to the flashes to which he chuckled and replied "I have faith in you y/n you are champion material according to me" With that he left. I was escorted to meet the engineers and the team formally after which I was given my daily workout and diet schedule and my schedule for the month and some Red bull merchandise and my ID and then I was freed so I decided to keep my stuff in the car and meet my fitness coach and dietician to talk about how I could improve after a 2 hour discussion and finalizing on certain things I headed home to practice on the sim as instructed by my race engineer so they could study my performance better and design the car accordingly.

By the time I was done it was 11pm and I ate my dinner, did some meditation and my night routine of brushing my teeth etc and called my parents to tell them how my day was.

*Trrrrr* The phone rang and my mom picked up as she asked about how my day was I began telling her every detail form the minutes I woke up and she listened patiently she always listened to my yapping she was like my sister, my best friend my everything and then my dad gave me some fitness "advice" and we said our goodbyes and hung up the phone. I decided to read a book and fell asleep reading it.
