The night air was still warm as Sofea stepped out of the supermarket, her arms laden with snacks and drinks. She had just finished her tuition class, and the sweet smell of fried snacks wafted through the plastic bags she clutched tightly. Her hijab fluttered slightly in the gentle breeze, and she took a moment to relish the quiet of the street before heading home. The soft glow of streetlights illuminated her path, casting shadows that danced around her.
As she walked, a distant roar interrupted the tranquility. Sofea looked up, startled, to see a motorcycle speeding down the road, its engine growling ominously. The rider appeared to be in trouble—his movements erratic, as if he were being chased. Curiosity mingled with concern as she moved aside to let him pass.
Suddenly, a group of motorcycles emerged from the darkness behind him, their headlights blinding as they closed in like wolves on their prey. Panic surged through Sofea as she realized the rider was headed straight for her. Time seemed to slow; she froze in place, wide-eyed.
