<Beckett's POV> <9:55am>

"Uh... Am I seeing things or is the sky red now?" The ma- Wesley stops dead in his tracks, almost falling over his bike. "We have to get inside kids, this ain't your average storm." He beckons us over to an empty house, barricading the doors. "Do we barricade the windows too or?" Orion asks.

Zeriah picks up a board, looking at Wesley with a slight nod. "Yes, and quickly. You two grab any food from the house and bring it into the attic or basement if there is one." Orion and I rush over to the kitchen cabinets, grabbing any food.  Orion suddenly screams and we all turn to look at him. "Sorry, thought I saw a roach." Before he could even react, a giant bug jumps straight onto his face.

"OH MY FUCKING GOD GET IT OFF OF ME!"
Unsure of wether I should be laughing or scared, I grab the giant thing and pry it off his face. He looks mortified. "What the fuck." He turns to Wesley. "Was that." The giant bug wriggles in my hands, I strengthen my grip on its sides, and it squeaks. I look down at it confused. "This red storm kind of uh.." he pauses, clearly trying to word it delicately.

Zeriah raises an eyebrow at him, and waves his hand for him to go on. "This storm was kind of a biological freak accident? I have no idea how it happened but it turns animals all funky and weird. Like that giant beetle in your hands, Beck." Completely forgetting I was even holding it, I run over to a window, and I throw it outside, shutting the window back up quickly.

I hammer in a few nails that Zeriah gave me into the boards, securing them on the windows. "Alright, let's go. Bring that food you two." Me and Orion grab all the food and follow Wesley, he finds an attic, pulling the string down and leads us all up the ladder, he shuts the door behind us. "There's a window over there, but try not to get spotted by those mutants.."

All three of us rush over to the window, shoving and pushing. "Dude- Move your big head!" Orion shoves Zeriah. "Move your fat body?" He shoves back. "You two are both big." I push them both to the sides and I peek out the window. They immediately rush to my side, effectively squishing me.

The sky rumbles, the crimson clouds rolling over each other in an aggressive manner. Something falls from the could, and it looks like a blood clot until it forms into some rabid zombie. This has to be breaking at least 70 different biological laws right now. "That thing kinda looked like you." Orion looks at me with a smug smile.

I shove him, and he falls on his ass with a grunt. Zeriah laughs, until something screeches loudly and we all duck, remembering what Wesley had warned us about. A zombie with six arms- six fucking arms? That thing peers through the window with very creepy looking eyes. Me and Zeriah huddle closely, Orion and Wesley hiding in the corners besides the window.

It slowly backs off, checking other houses. "Yeah, no more window peeking, okay?" Wesley glares at us. Orion throws us a table cloth. "Cover the window with that."
"Where the hell did you get this from?"
"The table?" I sign to Zeriah what he said.
"But why did you grab a table cloth?" Zeriah looks at him confused. "I was gonna use it as a blanket."

I snicker, and Zeriah shakes his head (probably because he didn't hear it). We fold the cloth in half and pull it over the window, stuffing it between a few cracks between the wood. "So what do we do now?" I ask, turning to Wesley. "We wait."
I get up, walking to a corner of random things in the attic, a weird closet, boxes and one singular mattress. Jackpot.

I pull the mattress up, the blankets falling off and a- Oh my God. I gasp out of shock and the two turn to look at me, Zeriah turning a few seconds after. I pick the mattress back up. "There's a corpse here.." I point at the shackle of bones with bits of flesh clinging onto it. I drag the mattress to the side of the attic and I flip it over to the side that wasn't used.
"And I got a mattress. It should fit like two of us on here, three of we just pile on each other."

I was kind of looking forward to that pile, to be honest. "Wes, do you wanna pile with us?" Orion asks, grinning. "I'm fine over here, you boys can share that thing." He gets comfortable against a few cloths. "I wouldn't usually recommend going to bed this early, but since there's a red storm it's honestly better just to do whatever it takes to pass the time."

Wesley wraps a towel around himself, using a thin cloth to lay down on. Zeriah and Orion jump on the mattress, and the springs inside squeak. "God that sounded horrible." Zeriah mumbles, turning to his side. "Beck c'mere, we gotta go to bed since an adult told us too."
"Orion, aren't we all adults here?"
"Barely. Plus I'm still 17, I turn 18 in a few months."
"When's your birthday?" Zeriah turns to face him. "November 27th."
I walk over, pushing myself into the two of them, my legs on top of Orion, my head on Zeriah's stomach. "Happy early birthday Orion."
"Isn't it September right now?" I slap my hand onto his mouth. "Shhh my child." Zeriah chuckles, and I feel the vibration against my face. "...You guys think this is ever gonna end?"
"Beck, he said the storms gonna end like tomorrow I think." Orion rubs my shoulder.
"I meant the whole zombie apocalypse bullshit." His hand stops midway, and he stays silent for a while. "I wish I could answer that." He resumes rubbing my shoulder, and I sigh. "I forgot to take my arm off."

Zeriah sighs, relieved. "I was wondering when you were going to notice, it was starting to hurt my stomach." I get up slowly, walking over to my bag of things. I pick up the screwdriver and I unscrew the bolts, taking my arm off. I rub whats left of my arm, and I sigh, walking back to huddle between the two. "I'm happy I can at least go through this with you guys." Zeriah suddenly whispers, me and Orion turning to look at him, Orion wrapping his arm around me as we watch for anything on Zeriah.

His back is facing us, slowly rising and falling with each breath.

His shoulders tremble.

AN: Yoooo JB is back!!!! I missed writing these sillies lol.

As they approach the north, more crazy things decide to appear, Beck and Orion wonder if their even on earth anymore. Zeriah's used to this, though.

Sorry for just straight up hitting y'all in the end with that angst but, it's a zombie apocalypse trope, it's GONNA have angst lol.

I know this is pretty confusing for a starting chapter but bear with me ok it'll be explained eventually.
