The Bridge

Chapter 1

Cassie puts on her yellow cardigan and does her hair in braids. Before going outside she stops at the door. "Hey mom I'm going to the library!" Cassie calls out from the doorway. "Yeah sure whatever" her drunk mom responds. Cassie walks out, closing the door behind her, holding back tears "I doubt she would care if I told her where I was actually going" Cassie mumbled to herself as she put her headphones in and started blasting mitski. As the sun goes down Cassie gets closer to the park. There's very little daylight left as Cassie walks over to the bridge in the middle of the park. As she continues walking she bumps into something and falls down. "Oh God I'm so sorry let me help you up" the mysterious girl says as she reaches her hand out. Cassie takes her hand and stands up, dusting herself off. "T-thank you" Cassie takes her headphones off and looks at the girl whoah, that goth girl is so tall and beautiful...wait is that Rhea.
Cassie thought. "Rhea?" "Omg Cassie?!" Rhea replied with. "How have you been doing since middle school?"
"Shitty" Cassie said nonchalantly. "Oh... Mommy issues still?" "Yep." Cassie sighs.
"You got snap?" Rhea asks. "Yeah" both Cassie and Rhea pull their phones out and exchange snaps. "Do you want to go hangout somewhere tomorrow?" Cassie asks sheepishly. "Of course! How about the library tmr at 3:00?" "Uhm...sure, sounds good." Cassie says. "Alright well, I have to go now... See you tomorrow cas!" Rhea says as she walks away in a hurry. Ugh why did I agree to that. I hate the library. It won't matter though. Not after tonight. Cassie thought to herself as she sat on the bridge railing, tears slowly forming on her eyes. I-i can't do it... I can't let Rhea down like that... What if she becomes my best friend.. what
If she becomes my.. girlfriend? Cassie
thinks for a moment before deciding on staying a while.
