He's not real, he's just a video game character...

💙

It was the day before New Year's Eve. Everyone was excited for the new year to come.

It was a late night in your apartment and you were scrolling through your social media. There were edits and posts of Wriothesley everywhere. All your friends commenting in the gc that they were disappointed to not see the Duke under their Christmas tree that December.

To you, he was hot. All your guy friends said that his dressing is ridiculous, but you don't think too much about that.

As a person who was made by women and made for women (supposedly for men too), it was hard not to get a taste. All his fanart and fanfics.

But growing tired from how he wasn't real, you put your phone down and went to bed. The feeling of being single... the feeling that someone like him was never around the world. It only made you touch starved.

As morning awoke, you were bombarded with a bunch of texts from friends who couldn't stop talking about Wriothesley. How you should be annoyed like the straight guys, but the spam of edits and your crazy friends have at least made your morning entertaining.

It wasn't everyday you were the 'mom' friend of the group. But they were crazy. You started texting, telling them all that he is just a character who doesn't exist.

What a mood breaker. But it was the truth. As much as it's fun to get caught in fantasies, he will forever be a character.
You threw over your sheets and swung yourself out of bed, stretching your arms and making the blankets.

You made your way to the bathroom to brush your teeth, the minty taste waking you up. After that, you went to the kitchen to make breakfast. Hearing a buzz from your phone, you immediately looked over it.

"Should we all go out this weekend?" Your friend suggested.

Hanging the toast in your mouth, you picked up your phone to reply. "Of course! I'll be ready in 5."

"Calm down, McQueen. There's no need to rush." One of your friends remarked.

Fine then... you took your time with breakfast and ate as you watched the tv on the channel. Even your YouTube feed was filled with Wriothesley.

Is the world turning into some Wriothesley sanctuary?

He was hot. He was everything. He was the big deal if he were a person. Sometimes you'd go off to think about what would happen if he were real. What would happen if he were with you? Wouldn't there be other prettier girls he'd go with anyway? Well what if everyone had him?

Your thoughts were interrupted as you heard a knock on the door. You walked past your sink to drop off breakfast before heading to the door.

Creaking it open, you were met with your friends, all dressed and ready to head to the city.

"Heyy, told you there was no rush. One of us was taking too long with the eyeliner..." they rolled their eyes.

"Was not! You took too long to pick me up," one of them pointed fingers.

"I was in traffic, you're—"

"Why don't we all just get going? We shouldn't waste any more time to the city." You broke the argument. Your friends agreed and headed to the car. It was a 30 minute drive, but you guys made it just in time before the afternoon.

It was getting crowded. People were already at lookout spots to watch the fireworks later on. As you were dozing off and lost in thought, your friends couldn't help but to stop and stare at random guys wearing black and silver chains walking past.

Ok, now the name—the guy—was getting really overrated.

But making your way to what looked like hot topic, one of your friends dragged all of you along to shop around there for a bit.

They tried on outfit after outfit. After that they got distracted again for bubble tea, arcade games, general shopping, and then... Walmart/Kmart? Until it was night.

10pm, it is just a bit until New Years. One of your friends bought cotton candy and sparklers for everyone and the other suggested to illegally go up a rooftop.

Making your way to the rooftop of the city, you were excited to see the fireworks. Huddling together as it was cold, the countdown began.

The countdown making your heart skip a beat. The fireworks, the new year, the new life—only in the next few seconds.

You squeezed around your friends tight, feeling nervous as everyone all said the last digit in unison. There shot a big firework, golden-yellow in colour. It reflected in your eyes. It was deafening, but so pretty.

Isn't that what a partner is? A pain, but you can't look away because they're so beautiful.

"Y/n," one of your friends, called Adeline, called out to you.

"Yeah?" You answered as the fireworks kept going.

"I know it's been a while that we've been friends. I was wondering if..." your heart pounded in anticipation as your friend fell to one knee, holding your hand. "Will you be mine?"

Heat rose to your cheeks. A confession on New Years?

"Of course!" You accepted and clutched your hand around theirs. They stood up and brought you into a hug, letting go and pulling you into a tight kiss.

Cheers of friends and the people around you celebrating. It was pretty embarrassing. But the warmth of New Years and the bravery of their confession made you comfortable.

"WOOHOOO, I KNEW YOU COULD DO IT!!" One of your friends slapped Adeline in the back, making them stumble into you.

"Ow, don't do that!" Adeline gripped you in their arms.

After that chilling, but really unexpected night, you went back to your apartment. You felt a warm feeling of that sudden confession. Perhaps there's more than just guys with black and silver accessories like what your friends say.

Love is always just around the corner...
