I sighed and looked out the window at the sign welcoming us to Windyton Hills. Stupid name. My mom was talking on the phone with my aunt. They had just moved but my uncle had died in a car accident on the way to the new house.
So now me and my mom were moving in with them for a fresh start. My dad died a few years back when I was only 13. I'm 15 now and still miss him. Even though he always worked he still made time for me.
“We're here!” My mom yelled. She sounded excited. I didn't share the same feeling. I had to leave all my friends behind. I didn't even get to say goodbye. This was all stupid. I got my bag from the trunk, walked inside, and was immediately greeted by my aunt and cousin.
“Oh Jaydi honey, you've grown so much!” My aunt said, pulling me into a tight hug.“Yup I sure have, haven't I. Now can you let go please? You're suffocating me” I said through short breaths. “Oh yes, so sorry” she said, letting me go. “Quinn can show you to your room” she said, as she greeted my mom.
Quinn looked like me, with his light brown hair and pale skin. The only different thing was his eyes, which were blue, and that he had no freckles like I did. “Well are you coming?” Quinn, who I assumed was my cousin, said rudely.
“Yeah let's go” I said, trying to be polite. So he walked me upstairs to my room. It was a pretty nice room. I started unpacking my things, my clothes, books, and a few stuffed animals that my dad had given me.
“You still sleep with stuffed animals?” Quinn laughed. I knew that Quinn was probably gonna be a pain in my ass. “What are you afraid the monsters will crawl out from under the bed and munch on your toes?” He remarked. “For the love of God shut the fuck up” I said, glaring at him.
He just laughed and left the room. We had dinner shortly after. Afterwards, I went back upstairs and did my nighttime routine before plugging in my phone and laying down on my bed. Tomorrow was the first day of a new school and I knew I was going to hate it.
