The waves, the waves were unbelievable that night. The moon had a pull much stronger than usual, it caused the waves to toss and turn. The water was cold. Freezing even. Just putting your feet in the water would chill your entire body. The sand was snow white and soft, it shifted lightly as you walked on it. The wind was almost unbearable. It felt as if the wind was trying to pull everything from its place. I continued walking anyway, off the sand and into the water. Because she was there.
Standing where the water came up to her neck, face expressionless, and her eyes on the silver moon above her. I walked to her side, she spoke without glancing at me, "The moon seems bigger than usual tonight, why is that?". I took a deep breath and looked at the moon as well. "I'm not sure. My power is stronger tonight. I think it may be a sign, that my time is nearing". The other woman nodded slightly, and pushed her hair, which the wind had been whipping around wildly, behind her ears.
"Aren't you going to ask why I'm out here?" Inquired the women. "No" I said, "I assume you want to try to feel the moon's power". The women finally looked at me, "do you do that with the sun, Diana?" She asked. At the sound of my name I was taken aback, we generally don't use our names unless the situation was quite serious, I suppose it was. "No, not anymore, Leona." I replied adding her name so she knew I understood she wanted a genuine answer. "I used to, however I realized its pointless". I started to walk away from where she was standing and back to the beach, she followed me.
"Do you mind letting me stay with you for the night? The guards will question why I'm out so late." I sighed and looked at her, really looked at her. Her sunkissed skin, golden eyes, her hair that is usually a perfect layer of waves, now tangled and wet by the wind and sea. The moonlight illuminated her features in a way I'd never seen before, but she was still the face I had grown to see when I closed my eyes. "Please?" I heard her ask in a quiet voice, it was then that I realized I had left her question unanswered. "Yes, if you must. Hurry up, I'm freezing, and I'm sure you are too."
