The golden mane welcomed me into this break from reality. I carefully look to see who or what is circling me only to be met with the blinding white figure of a lion. Not feeling a single threat from him I wait as he circles back around to stand in front of me.
Each gentle breath he releases I can feel brush against my face. Not having the strength to look directly at him for any longer I look down to where his paws are.
"My child, look up." Hesitantly I look at the lion, his light no longer blinding; instead, swirls of light envelope in a warm embrace.
"How could you call me yours when I hardly understand what this is." I focus back on him. "How am I your child when I don't even know who you are? My father-." I pause as I look to him in confusion.
"I created you from clay and ash. I am the one who in your loneliest moments held you close and warmed your heart." He gently presses his nose against my head as my eyes begin to glaze over with tears. "I am the one who will guide you through the path carved out for you.
"Path? If you are referring to what the elderly man said, then I cannot! How could I lead these people out of our chains when we have barely enough strength to remain awake let alone run. We don't have enough water or food our path is to perish locked down here!"
"Trust in the father and he shall guide you, trust in him and he shall feed you. Just trust in him and let him love you." I look into his eyes in search of any deceit. Finding none I look down at the soil beneath me."Guide us through your will, for we can cannot travel this path alone."
