Omniscient/Taehyungs POV

On a sunny bright summer day, Taehyung happily wandered to his new workplace amidst the leafy green trees.

His heart was pounding faster within his chest as he wandered his way up a cobblestone footpath.

Pumped with adrenaline and excitement, he went up the front wooden steps, eager to finally meet the children inside the orphanage that he would be working with.

Taehyung was used to working with children, as his parents owned a company to support children on the west side of Korea; It wasn't until Taehyung sought for his own independence that he quit working for his parents to pursue a new job in a new city with new people.

He smiled, his lips pulling up into a box shape as he raised his hand to knock on the Orphanage door once more.

He didn't expect to receive a call to get the job but strongly respected the owner of the Orphanage so was more than happy upon getting hired.

Within seconds of his knocking, the wooden door opened to a beautiful old-fashioned two-story timber building.

He was warmly greeted by a smile that he remembered of an short older women with hazel eyes, and short hair that cupped around her wrinkled cheeks.

"Good morning Taehyung, do come in." The old woman chimed, her voice frail yet polite.

Taehyung had heard all about how the past caretaker working for her was retiring due to age, it was even a surprise for him that the woman running it now continues to do so.

Though to the children insides surprise, they wouldn't be used to having such a young caretaker, so my first impression for them all is highly important, so that I become respected.

"Let's go introduce you to the children." The woman hummed after closing the front door.

She led me down a hallway to the left, past her office before entering through a doorway.

I gasped upon seeing many children, some sitting on the floor playing with rattles and blocks, while others sat at a table, drawing on pieces of paper.

They seemed to range from age 2 to about maybe 11.

I entered the room further and the women rang a bell that was attached to the wall to capture their attention.

"Children, I'd like to introduce you to your new caregiver, Taehyung." The women warmly beamed.

One of the younger girls sitting at the table, spun around in her chair to look at me.

Her voice was light as she spoke, "Nana, you brought a man." She gasped, dragging out the man sound cutely in disbelief.

I suppose if the kids were used to female caretakers, it would be quite shocking even of my gender, let alone my age.

I couldn't wipe the smile off my face though.

I spoke up with a beam still plastered to my face, "Hello, who's ready to have some fun?"

The kids instantly went from a shy exterior to squealing with joy as they all got up from where they sat wandering over to me curiously.

I headed over to where the youngest seemed to be sitting still on the floor.

I waved at her and she beamed up at me.

"Come sit in a circle." I directed as I lifted the young 2-year-old to sit on my lap.

Once the kids had surrounded me, I asked, "Do you guys want to hear a story."

"Yes!" They all in unison exclaimed.

"Once upon a time," I began.

"In a tower locked far far away," I continued.

"Lived a young girl, Gracey," I said making up a random name.

"She and her three brothers lived in a tower, hidden behind a hill, protecting them from danger," I continued to make up.

"But these four young kids loved to get up to mischief." I cooed making the kid's eyes widen.

"What kind of mischief?" A boy, maybe age of 8 asked as his eyes locked with mine.

"Like eating cake for breakfast," I began making the kids giggle and squeal with excitement.

"And one day there was a beautiful three-tiered cake sitting on the dining table. The kids were in ore as they gazed at the cake, their short legs leaving the cake out of reach. But Gracey was determined to get the cake for her and her brothers," I went on, enthusiasm seeping through my voice.

"She decided to get one of her brothers to lift her onto his shoulders so she could grab the plate that cake sat on. Only the cake was heavy, so as she grabbed it off the table, the whole thing toppled over onto the floor." I stated, hearing some gasps leave the kid's mouths.

"What do you guys think happened after? What did those mischievous kids do?" I asked, gazing over the kids.

Upon counting them, there seemed to be about 13 kids in total that sat before me.

"They ate it off the floor!" A very young-looking girl murmured.

I grinned seeing the girl that looked about five years old, "They did eat it off the floor." I confirmed.

I laughed hearing some of the kids scream 'ew' and 'yuck', though some also giggled and were full of smiles.

"Are these all the kids?" I asked the older woman as I gently put the 2-year-old girl who was sitting on my knee, back onto the floor.

"That's all of them except for the oldest one." She warmly stated from where she sat down at the dining table to rest her legs as she listened to my story.

"How old are they?" I asked curiously, expecting her to say maybe 13 because there seemed to be no teenagers here.

"He's 20." She calmly said as I turned my attention back to the kids.

However my eyes widened and my mouth fell open as I looked back over at the older woman repeating her answer in shock, "20!?"

"I thought kids over 18 were no longer living in orphanages." I confessed honestly.

I had no idea there would be someone my age who lives here too.

"Well, it's complicated. He's the only Orphan I've ever had that got to the age of 18 without being adopted. Yet I owe him because he helps out with the kids a lot. I said he could stay here while he's earning money to move out or if we reach the maximum capacity of orphans here, then he'll need to move out sooner so we can provide a bed for someone younger." The women responded.

I nodded, so I will be meeting someone my age.

Will he be nice and respectful of me? Or will he potentially loathe jealousy of my wealth and family situation? What could a 20-year-old Orphan possibly be like? I've never even met an Orphan before today but I did not expect someone my age to possibly require my care.

I am truly living in An Orphans World now...
