In your presence, distrust succumbs to preying fear
Numerous consequential years
In the vapor of invisibility sears
The undercurrents of the vacancy you steer
Lead to places nowhere ever near
Systemic drear rushes all the way to gear
Resigning freedoms that to me are dear
Claiming the vitality that peers
Whenever I adhere
To passing like I am fully here
A life of unending mistakes
Took and took place
That my faith in being helped
Over being betrayed
Is not much
When I'm surrounded
By those that work for the state
