Omniscient/Taehyung's POV

Like the 20-year-old Orphan, Taehyung was lucky enough to get a free bedroom in the orphanage unless they ran out of rooms for the Orphans.

The ground level had all of the girl's bedrooms on it with 2-3 beds in a room, along with the dining area and kitchen, two bathrooms, the Orphanage owner's bedroom, and her office.

Whereas the second level was where Taehyung would be sleeping which had the male's rooms. There were two bedrooms with 2-3 beds crammed inside, two smaller bedrooms, and one bathroom.

Luckily for Taehyung, he did not have to share a room as he got a bedroom that was quite small and likely used for a study in the past. He presumed the other bedroom the same size belonged to the oldest Orphan but he wasn't for sure.

Yet it allowed both older males to have their independence, like the orphanage owner downstairs. It also meant that the Orphanage owner was responsible for the girls overnight while Taehyung was responsible for the males.

It was already dark out and the oldest Orphan hadn't returned yet.

The woman running the Orphanage who the children call Nana explained that he works until late over the weekend so I wasn't likely to meet him until tomorrow, Monday.

I had hoped staying up though would've allowed me the chance to meet him.

Instead, I put the youngest girls to bed after telling them a story.

Then the older girls, aged 8 and 10 both led me up to my bedroom to show me where it was.

Once I entered, I quickly walked over to the window that was attached to a sloping roof.

"Tae." The girl aged 8 mumbled as I gazed out at the stars forming in the sky.

"Mhm." I hummed, turning around to look at the girls.

"You don't have a teddy to sleep with." She muttered, her dainty face pulling into a pout.

I smiled as I gazed down at the single bed that was on the right side of my bedroom.

"That's alright. Maybe we can go on a field trip to buy me one at some point." I softly cooed while taking a seat on the bed.

The girl smiled, grabbing her friend's hand as she pulled the other girl over to the edge of my bed.

"Are you afraid of the dark Taehyung?" The 10-year-old girl asked me, examining the room not having any light bulbs but instead only the window revealing the moonlight and a couple candles that could be lit around the room.

"I'm not. Are you?" I curiously asked.

She didn't answer but nodded as her lips pressed nervously together.

"Come here." I chimed, softly patting the bed so she could sit beside me.

I wrapped my arm around her shoulder to comfort her before speaking, "It's normal to be afraid of the dark. Just know there is nothing out of the ordinary out there. Just millions of beautiful stars shining within the darkness." I told her softly as the other girl sat down beside her friend.

"I like the stars." She admitted as I smiled.

"Me too." I remarked.

"If you get scared during the night though, you have Jimin next door." The 8-year-old informed me.

"Who's Jimin?" I replied.

The girls giggled, "The oldest silly." The youngest girl replied.

I did presume it was his bedroom to the left of mine, as mine was the last room at the end of the hall.

"What is he like?" I asked the girls curiously.

"Annoying." One of the girls whined while the other slapped her knee, "He's the sweetest guy ever." The other chimed.

I laughed hearing their mixed reactions.

I guess some people here may not like other people's traits so I couldn't expect them to both have the same opinion.

I suppose I just need to work out which is true.

"Tae, why do you have to sleep up here? You could join us." One of them whined.

I softly laughed, "Well, if you're lucky enough, maybe you guys could take turns having a sleepover in my bedroom," I began.

"We could lie on the ground and watch the stars late into the night until we drift asleep," I told them making their young eyes go wide with how exciting it sounded.

"While holding our teddy bears." The slightly younger girl chimed.

I laughed while patting the girl's head.

"Taehyung-ah," The oldest girl chimed and I hummed in response.

"Can you tell us another bedtime story, I want to hear one more before going back downstairs." She pleaded.

I smiled at her request, "Alright but it'll be a short one. I haven't gone to check on the younger boys yet." I informed the girls who patiently waited.

"Once upon a time, a little old woman lived on a farm." I began making the girls yawn.

I smiled as I continued the story, "She'd get up early in the morning, and work dusk until dawn. She had many animals on her farm, sheep, cows, and pigs." I informed the girls.

"And bears." The youngest girl requested.

I cocked my eyebrow, "You know bears aren't normally considered farm animals right?" I asked the little girl.

"I know, I just want bears." She whined, dragging out the sound of the word 'bears'.

"Alright alright, and bears," I said with a snicker.

"One day, when she was out gazing at the moonlight, she saw a shooting star and decided to make a wish. What would you guys wish for?" I asked the girls.

"For a pet unicorn." One of the girls stated making the other giggle.

"For a million dollars." The other girl replied.

I chuckled, "Both are excellent wishes. However, what this woman wished for, was for every time she looked up at the sky to see her beloved family that she'd lost in the past," I told the girls.

"And every time she gazed at the stars, she felt like her family was out there." I told the girls.

They were quiet listening to my story but the girl sitting on the bed beside me jumped off, standing under the window, looking up at the stars.

The other girl joined beside her making Taehyung's heart melt.

"She wished it for all people, so now you know that whenever you look up at the sky, there are people out there looking down on you. You are never alone." I hummed.

"We aren't alone if we have you, Taehyung." The younger girl commented, looking over at me sitting on my bed.

I smiled at her comment. I know I cannot promise I'll be in the girls' lives forever, but there are messages I can give them through my stories that can help inspire them.

Little did I know that outside the doorway, lurking within the darkness was Jimin, listening to my story. I did not know that he'd already begun to shape his view of me, based on what he heard.

I only learned that Jimin could have listened once I left my bedroom, walking past Jimin's closed bedroom door to lead the young girls to the staircase.

It seems I will have to meet him tomorrow. For now, we have the stars to look out for us as we all fall asleep in an orphans world...
